"Idol Curiosity" provides examples of:
- Bait-and-Switch: Lumpy looks through his telescope to see what appears to be an incoming iceberg that the ship is about to crash into. It ultimately turns out to be an ice cold drink that Toothy was going to sip on. Subverted when the ship does crash into an actual iceberg by The Mole's blindness, effectively killing everyone on board except Sniffles.
- Convection, Schmonvection: Despite the museum eventually becoming a literal case of "don't touch lava, Sniffles isn't cooked at all by the heat.
- Earthquakes Cause Fissures: Played for about as much comedy as possible, where the fissure created by the earthquake from stealing the Idol is shown to not just split the ground like an eggshell, but also demonstrate some kind of sapience—to the point that it can follow Sniffles all the way home, by riding a taxi.
- Eat the Camera: Russel does this while he is being dragged with his intestines from the ship like water skis.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Despite being a crack in the ground bent on destruction, it still pays the taxi.
- "Everybody Dies" Ending: None of the characters survive the episode (except whoever the taxi driver was).
- Forgotten Fallen Friend: Sniffles seems to get over his two companions dying horribly pretty much immediately.
- Furniture Blockade: Sniffles attempts this to block the cursed crack from following him. It's in vain as it just takes them all in.
- Half the Man He Used to Be: How the crack ultimately kills Sniffles.
- New Job as the Plot Demands:
- Sniffles, Giggles, and Flaky are explorers.
- The Mole, Lumpy, and Russell are sailors.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Sniffles, Giggles, Flaky, Lumpy, Toothy, Russell, and The Mole all die.
