  • Green-Eyed Monster: Logan gets jealous when Rory dates other men.
  • Hypocrite: Logan doesn't want to see Rory dating other guys, although he wants the freedom to date other girls.
  • Malaproper: As Lorelai puts it: "Cluelessness is the mother of invention."
  • Metaphorgotten: Kirk wonders if Luke means that he gave him the abstract logs to build his own real cabin.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Kirk sleeping naked in Luke's boat. And in Rory's room. And in Michel's trailer.
  • Operation: Jealousy: Rory decides to go to the Themed Party with a guy she barely knows, to make Logan jealous. It works.
  • Punny Title: "Pulp Friction" refers to both the Pulp Fiction-themed party and the friction between Logan and Rory as she finds she is not that into polyamory.
  • Rudely Hanging Up: Rory says something rude to Lorelai on the phone and Lorelai responds in her usual mature fashion by making crackling sounds and claiming the house is going through a tunnel before hanging up.
  • Running Gag: Walking into a room and finding Kirk sleeping there.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Themed Party: the Quentin Tarantino themed one.
  • Verbal Backspace: Lorelai listens to how well Rory's Operation: Jealousy went and comments that "all the balls are in your court… well you know what I mean."
  • Womanchild: Lulu is very attached to her ribbon.
Kirk: This is bigger than your love of pink!
    Lulu: Nooooo!
