    Season 1 (1965-66) 
  1. MrBig: Agent 86 Maxwell Smart must defeat "Mister Big", a KAOS agent plotting to blow up the Statue of Liberty. For this mission, Smart is assigned a rookie, Agent 99.
    Only episode filmed in black-and-white.
  2. Diplomat's Daughter: Max and 99 must look after a visiting princess (whose father Max protected years earlier) who is being targeted by KAOS, which has been kidnapping several blondes.
    First appearance of "The Claw"
  3. School Days: When CONTROL's spy school is infiltrated by KAOS, Max and Fang pose as students and 99 poses as an instructor in hopes they will find the imposter.
    First episode featuring Robert Karvelas.
    The Chief does not appear.
  4. Our Man in Toyland: Smart and 99 go undercover at a department store where KAOS has been planting "top secret" data... inside talking dolls.
  5. Now You See Him, Now You Don't: A doctor escaping from KAOS tells Max about the invisibility ray he developed. It doesn't take long before KAOS kidnaps both of them.
  6. Washington 4, Indians 3: When an Indian chief threatens to attack Washington with a giant arrow unless all their lands are handed back, Agents 86 and 99 have to pose as Indians, but 99 doesn't like the fact Max is forced to marry the chief's daughter.note

  7. KAOS in CONTROL: One of the speakers at a CONTROL scientists' convention shows his "retrogressor gun" (capable of turning the target's mind into that of a child). However KAOS steals the gun and uses it on the inventor, with Max and 99 having to search for the mole.
  8. The Day Smart Turned Chicken: KAOS attempts to make a (bigger) fool out of Smart in hopes he'll be discredited by the time he testifies against them in court.
    99 does not appear.
  9. Satan Place: Agents 86 and 99 have to save The Chief when he's kidnapped by Dr. Harvey Satan, who plans to do a mind-control experiment with him... involving freezing the Chief.
  10. Our Man in Leotards: Max and 99 must foil a ballet-dancing KAOS agent attempting to immobilize a diplomat about to sign a treaty with the U.S.
  11. Too Many Chiefs: Smart must protect the woman who memorized KAOS' code-book from a master of disguise who is now impersonating The Chief.
    First episode featuring Victor French.
  12. My Nephew, the Spy: 86 has to pretend to his uncle and aunt he's not a spy. It doesn't help that he's being tailed by a KAOS agent after unwittingly shopping at a shoe shop that was actually a cover for KAOS.
  13. Aboard the Orient Express: Max is sent aboard the Orient Express with the payrolls for the agents on "the other side", a mission originally assigned to 99, before Smart accidentally handcuffed himself to the briefcase.
    First appearance of Agent 44.
  14. Weekend Vampire: A series of CONTROL agents have been murdered, apparently by a vampire, all during weekends. Agents 86 and 99 are led to the castle of Dr. Drago, who was fired from CONTROL for doing unauthorized experiments.
  15. Survival of the Fattest: Smart has to look after an Arab prince whose country's revenues depend on his weight. Knowing that if he slims down, he will lose power, KAOS agent Mary Jack Armstrong kidnaps the prince.
  16. Double Agent: The Chief convinces 86 to pose as an unruly agent in hopes that KAOS will hire him. His first assignment for KAOS—Kill 99.
  17. Kisses for KAOS: 99 must pose as a society girl in order to thwart an art dealer working for KAOS. A jealous Max is forced to pose as her chauffeur.
  18. The Dead Spy Scrawls: CONTROL finds that KAOS has set its communications center in a pool hall. After Smart unsuccessfully attempts to learn to play, he and 99 resort to a remote-control cue-ball.
  19. Back to the Old Drawing Board: KAOS attempts to get rid of Professor Shotwire with a killer robot who becomes friends with Max.

  20. All in the Mind: Agents 86 and 99 must pose as a crazy colonel and his wife to foil a KAOS psychiatrist. After their cover is blown, they hide on a phone booth which begins to fill up with water.
  21. Dear Diary: A retired CONTROL agent is kidnapped before he could turn over his diary. Smart and 99 team up with other retirees to look for him.
  22. Smart, the Assassin: Knowing that The Chief always beats 86 at their daily chess game, KAOS kidnaps and brainwashes him into shooting the Chief when he says "checkmate".
  23. I'm Only Human: Fang is demoted to a "desk job" because of his poor attitude, but is assigned to investigate the goings on at an animal spa, as the animals who went there ended up killing their owners.
  24. Stakeout on Blue Mist Mountain: When KAOS hides parts of an atomic bomb at Blue Mist Mountain, Max must pose as a KAOS agent in order to deactivate the bomb.
  25. The Amazing Harry Hoo: Agents 86 and 99 are assisted by Hawaiian detective Harry Hoo when investigating the death of an agent with key information over KAOS.
  26. Hubert's Unfinished Symphony: Smart poses as a music critic in order to solve the murder of a musician CONTROL agent with the low-down about KAOS' new leader. He also seizes the opportunity to realize his dream to become a professional pianist.
  27. Ship Of Spies (two-part episode): Max and 99 board the freighter KAOS has hid the plans for a nuclear battleship.
    Emmy winner for Outstanding Comedy Writing.
  28. Shipment to Beirut: 86 decides to go undercover as a fashion model when he's informed that a famous designer is working for KAOS.
  29. The Last One In is a Rotten Spy: In spite of seemingly being unable to swim, Smart poses as a swimming instructor looking for a Russian swimmer who wants to defect to the U.S.

    Season 2 (1966-67) 
  1. Anatomy of a Lover: Max foils Hymie's attempt to murder The Chief, but is unwilling to dismantle him. Instead he decides to hide him in his apartment, posing as his cousin. Meanwhile, the Chief's niece meets the robot and develops a crush on him.
  2. Strike While the Agent is Hot: After a contact is shot, Agent 86 becomes CONTROL's "shop steward", having to discuss a labor agreement with The Chief.
  3. A Spy for a Spy: The Chief is kidnapped by a magician who is also Vice President of Public Relations and Terror for KAOS. Smart retaliates by abducting KAOS' top agent, which leads to a series of kidnapped agents from both sides.
    First appearance of Siegfried.
  4. The Only Way to Die: 86 fakes his death so he can take down a bomber who each year attacks a national monument.
    First appearance of Agent 13.
  5. Maxwell Smart, Jimmy Ballantine: Max impersonates Jimmy Ballantine, a recently-released safe-cracker in an attempt to foil KAOS' proposed heist of a Federal Reserve bank.
  6. Casablanca: After his latest mission fails, Agent 86 is assigned to a vacation, which he spends going to Casablanca searching for "The Choker", a case 99 is working undercover as a singer.
  7. The Decoy: CONTROL makes KAOS believe Smart is carrying a code to Europe. While the code travels safely, 86 is kidnapped and subjects to KAOS' many (non-lethal) interrogation methods.
  8. Hoo Done It: In a parody of Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians, Max and Harry Hoo attempt to solve the murder of CONTROL agent Captain Forsythe at a dinner, whose guests are killed one by one.
  9. Rub-a-Dub-Dub... Three Spies on a Sub: 86 and 99 go on a dangerous mission to destroy a KAOS computer on a small island, but end up on a submarine commanded by Siegfried.
  10. The Greatest Spy on Earth: Smart and 99 go undercover at a circus searching for a diamond smuggling ring behind the murder of an investigating CONTROL spy.
  11. Island of the Darned: When Agent 27 goes to an island and returns stuffed (just like an animal), Agents 86 and 99 investigate Hans Hunter, a former Nazi, former Communist spy working for KAOS, who delights in hunting CONTROL agents.
  12. Bronzefinger: Max tracks down Rembrandt Von Bronzefinger, a thief and forger for KAOS, suspected for stealing a number of paintings from museums.
  13. Perils in a Pet Shop: When a parrot trained by KAOS is freed by his lawyer, 86 tracks him down along with 99 and Fang to a pet shop that is actually a front for Melnick, the Smiling Killer, who has been using parrots to memorize secret information and smuggle it out of the country.
    First appearance of Larabee and last appearance of Fang.
  14. The Whole Tooth and...: Smart hides some plans for a nuclear reactor on a false tooth, but when KAOS trails him, he hides the tooth into another man's mouth... Said man being actually a convict on his way to Joliet.
  15. Kiss of Death: Agent 86 is seduced by a socialite... who is actually trying to murder him for killing her father, the founder of KAOS.
  16. It Takes One to Know One: When a femme fatale working for KAOS is killing CONTROL's "number two" men, Hymie is assigned to the post. No one knows however, that she is a robot as well.
  17. Someone Down Here Hates Me: Siegfried puts a price of $250,000 on Max's head (later upped to $500,000). And if he's not killed, KAOS' annual BBQ will be cancelled.
  18. Cutback at CONTROL: When the Government threatens to shut down CONTROL over its poor performance, 86 pretends to accept Siegfried's proposal to join KAOS.
  19. The Man From Y.E.N.T.A.: KAOS attempts to kill the prince of an oil-rich Arab country, so CONTROL seeks help from an Israeli agent, while KAOS' master of disguise LeMoco tries to kill the prince.
  20. The Mummy: KAOS is smuggling its agents in (and kidnapping CONTROL agents out of) the country as mummies at the Metropolitan Museum.
    99 does not appear.
  21. The Girls From K.A.O.S.: Smart has to protect Miss U.S.A. (also the daughter of a noted scientist) from two contestants who are actually KAOS agents, but each one claims to represent "true KAOS".
    99 does not appear.
  22. Smart Fit the Battle of Jericho: Agent 86 tracks down Frank Lloyd Joshua, who is suspect for exploding the high-rise buildings he builds.
  23. Where-What-How-Who Am I?: While chased by KAOS, Max has a car crash and is fed with "amnesia pills" so he can't tell CONTROL about KAOS' plan.
  24. The Expendable Agent: A British professor comes to the U.S. with a rocket fuel formula and Chain, an agent ordered to sacrifice himself if necessary. 86 wonders how someone so clumsy as Chain can be a spy.
  25. How to Succeed in the Spy Business Without Really Trying: Smart and 99 are saved from a shootout by Siegfried, who wants to defect from KAOS.

  26. Appointment in Sahara: KAOS threatens to unleash its nuclear bombs unless the world disarms. Agents 86 and 99 are sent to the Sahara to foil the plan.
    First episode directed by Don Adams.
  27. Pussycats Galore: Max and 99 pose as a couple of German scientists when KAOS is kidnapping scientists attending The Pussycat Club.
  28. [[Get Smart S 2 E 282930 A Man Called Smart A Man Called Smart" (three-part episode): KAOS steals a water evaporation formula and blackmails the U.S. by threatening to dry the nation. While 86, 99 and The Chief go undercover at an hospital, CONTROL's first chief, the 91-year-old Admiral Hardgrade is called out of retirement. After the Chief is wounded in a gunfight, Smart and 99 end up at the Paramint studios looking for the mastermind.
    This three-part episode was originally conceived as a theatrical film.

    Season 3 (1967-68) 
  1. Viva Smart: Max and 99 are sent to the Latin American republic of San Saludos to rescue a President who has been overthrown and imprisoned by a maniacal army general dictator, General Diablo Pajarito.
  2. Witness for the Persecution: Smart has to testify against a recently captured well-known KAOS agent. With the trial date in two weeks, KAOS tries numerous methods to kill him to make sure he doesn't reach the courthouse.
  3. The Spy Who Met Himself: The KAOS League of Impostors attempts to take over CONTROL from within by replacing agents with lookalike impostors, including Max.
  4. The Spirit Is Willing: Max's informer turns out to be a woman who died before Max could have met her, and has to attend a séance in order to get enough evidence.
  5. Maxwell Smart, Private Eye: Cutbacks at CONTROL mean part-time work for all of its agents. Max decides to set up shop as a private detective with 99 as his secretary.
  6. Supersonic Boom: KAOS threatens to use their new supersonic boom machine to destroy New York City.
  7. One of Our Olives Is Missing: KAOS has planted a listening device in what appears to be an ordinary olive. The olive, however, is inadvertently consumed by a country and western singing star.
  8. When Good Fellows Get Together: KAOS creates the super-robot Groppo to destroy CONTROL's robot Hymie. Max must help Hymie defend himself, but Hymie may be too "nice" to be willing to use violence.
  9. "Dr. Yes": After recent American rocket launches go awry, Max and 99 masquerade as vacationers to track down the KAOS mastermind behind the sabotage, the evil Dr. Yes.
  10. "That Old Gang of Mine": Max assumes the identity of a safecracker named Scar in order to infiltrate a group of thieves known as the Scorpion Gang, who plan to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London.
  11. "The Mild Ones": A foreign prime minister is kidnapped by a group of surprisingly literate hippie gang members known as the Purple Knights, who see themselves as a modern group of Arthurian Knights of the Round Table who ride motorcycles and speak in Middle Ages slang. Max and 99 must pass as new gang members to save the prime minister.
  12. "Classification: Dead": Max is poisoned by a KAOS agent and has until 1 PM the following day to find the antidote.
  13. "The Mysterious Dr. T": A top scientist is being protected by CONTROL but is poisoned during Max's watch. Before dying, he admits he has plagiarized all his major scientific findings from another scientist, the mysterious Dr. T. Neither CONTROL nor KAOS knows who this scientist is, and Max and Siegfried compete to discover the scientist's identity.
  14. "The King Lives?": Max poses as the King of Coronia, a person whom he strongly physically resembles, in order to uncover the party behind an assassination attempt made against the King shortly before his coronation.
  15. "The Groovy Guru": A hippie disk jockey called the Groovy Guru (played by guest star Larry Storch) seeks to control the minds of teenagers through his radio show.
  16. "The Little Black Book" (two part episode): Max's army buddy Sid is in town to visit, but Max is involved in a case. Sid discovers a "black book" full of women's names, and assumes it is a list of women Max knows socially. It is in fact a list of KAOS code names, and when Sid uses the black book to make a phone call, he inadvertently involves both of them in a web of intrigue.
  17. "Don't Look Back": Max gets framed by KAOS and must escape from the police and prove his innocence.
  18. "99 Loses CONTROL": 99 resigns from CONTROL to accept a marriage proposal from Victor Royal, owner of an international casino.
  19. "The Wax Max": An amusement park attendant inadvertently gives Max and 99 a kewpie doll at a shooting gallery game, which KAOS is using to smuggle plutonium. KAOS finds out and hunts down 86 and 99 at the park.
  20. "Operation Ridiculous": A magazine writer is doing a story on CONTROL, which could either mean more appropriations from the federal government or put CONTROL out of business. To try to influence this outcome, KAOS plots to do what it can to make Max look even more stupid, inept, clueless and ridiculous than usual.
  21. "Spy, Spy, Birdie": A man who hates noise devises a silent explosive. Finding both CONTROL and KAOS unwilling to back his agenda, he turns the silent explosive on both spy organizations. Max and Siegfried must team up to oppose the man.
  22. "Run, Robot, Run": Hymie must compete for the Free World in an athletic event against competitors from the Iron Curtain countries, after KAOS does what it can to fix things.
  23. "The Hot Line": A KAOS voice impersonator fires the Chief over the phone while pretending to be President Johnson. Max becomes the new Chief; the Chief reverts to his old status as Agent Q, and realizes he can only save his old job by discovering the location of a KAOS communications center.
  24. "Die, Spy": Max teaming up with a CONTROL agent named Samuels to pose as a ping-pong champ in a tournament in Istanbul in order to defeat ACB, the "third spy network".
  25. "The Reluctant Redhead": CONTROL has discovered that a writer of children's books named Mimsi Sage strongly resembles the deceased wife of a man named Kinsey Krispin, with a list of KAOS informers that CONTROL would very much like to have.

    Season 4 (1968-69) 
  1. "The Impossible Mission": Max and 99 infiltrate Herb Talbot's Tijuana Tin to stop KAOS agent The Leader from smuggling the Hellman theory out of the country. Max reveals his feelings for 99, ultimately agreeing to marry her if they both survive this dangerous mission.
  2. "Snoopy Smart vs. the Red Baron": KAOS has devised a new way of destroying the American potato crop, and Max and 99 have to find out how they're doing it. The trail leads to Siegfried, Starker, and an aerial dogfight over Twin Falls, Idaho — which is where 99's mother lives.
  3. "Closely Watched Planes": After CONTROL couriers disappear from airplanes during mid-flight, Max becomes the courier for the next flight, backed up by 99 posing as a flight attendant. Max and 99 have to figure out which of 3 suspect passengers on their flight are behind this KAOS scheme.
  4. "The Secrets of Sam Vittorio": Gangster Sam Vittorio is dying, and he will only reveal the location of his stolen loot to his proteges Connie and Floyd... who look suspiciously like 99 and Max.
  5. "Diamonds Are a Spy's Best Friend": Max visits a jewelry store to buy a reasonably-priced engagement ring for 99, but the owner of the jewelry store is being threatened by KAOS and slips Max a diamond ring that's actually worth $275,000. Tracking down the KAOS jewelry smuggling operation ultimately leads Max and 99 to a bowling alley.
  6. "The Worst Best Man": One by one, KAOS knocks off people who have agreed to be Max's best man for his upcoming wedding with 99, with Max ultimately choosing Hymie for the role. However, KAOS intercepts Hymie and uses him to hide a bomb, intending to kill CONTROL agents at Max's bachelor party.
  7. "A Tale of Two Tails": Max substitutes at the CONTROL spy school for a day, helping two new agents who are lacking in their tailing skills.
  8. "The Return of the Ancient Mariner": Max has to protect Admiral Hargrade from the evil Chameleon, whose ability to disguise himself is legendary.
  9. "With Love and Twitches": A KAOS scientist passes information on the location of the Melnick uranium mine to Max, in the form of a "drinkable map". Max must stay upright for the next 48 hours, or else the map will not break out properly as a rash on his chest. Unfortunately, Max's marriage and honeymoon with 99 are planned for those 48 hours.
  10. "The Laser Blazer": Max's assignment in Hong Kong is to get a new secret weapon from a tailor. The new weapon, as it turns out, is a man's blazer with a button on it that activates a laser beam of great strength; however, Max doesn't know that the blazer is the weapon.
  11. "The Farkas Farcas": The Farkases —neighbors of Max and 99—are in the employ of KAOS. When KAOS needs the contents of an attaché case the Chief is carrying, Mrs. Farkas arranges to supply 99 with a dessert for the supper she has prepared for Max and the Chief... a poisoned mousse.
  12. "Temporarily Out of CONTROL": Max and the Chief are suspiciously issued activation notices for their Naval Reserve contracts. This conveniently requires of them that they enter active duty on board a Navy ship while KAOS nefariously plans activities on the mainland.
  13. "Schwartz's Island": While on their honeymoon, Max and 99 become stranded at sea because the boat they were sailing on exploded (due, as usual, to Max's inept behavior). They end up on an island in the Caribbean which, as it turns out, is synthetic and was designed by KAOS scientist Schwartz.
  14. "One Nation Invisible": Max is assigned to protect Dr. Canyon, the inventor of an invisibility spray. Because Dr. Canyon has sprayed herself with said invisibility spray, Max has no idea she is a beautiful woman. This becomes a problem when Max has to protect Dr. Canyon at his apartment in the middle of the night.
  15. "Hurray for Hollywood": Max and 99 go undercover as stage actors to find out how KAOS is smuggling scientific information out of the country.
  16. "The Day They Raided the Knights": 99 is temporarily laid off from control due to budget cuts and manages to find a job at a stamp redemption center, which turns out to be a KAOS munitions depot that CONTROL has been actively looking for.
  17. "Tequila Mockingbird": The Tequila Mockingbird (a statue rather like the Maltese Falcon) has been recovered by Esmerelda, a CONTROL operative posing as a cantina showgirl in a sleepy Mexican town called Mira Loma. KAOS kills Esmerelda during her performance but she has hidden the statue beforehand. Max and 99 have to figure out the clue that was left behind to find where the statue is hidden, leading to a mexican standoff between Max and two rival KAOS agents.
  18. "I Shot 86 Today": Max and 99 visit a golf club, getting a tip where the adjacent missile base will be attacked later that day.
  19. "Absorb the Greek": Max and 99 have been ordered from higher up to tail the Chief based on his recent behaviour. The Chief goes to a computer dating service, and shortly thereafter begins to date a young Greek girl.
  20. "To Sire, with Love" (two-part episode): The King of Coronia is in the United States on official Coronian business. A plot against him by the swashbuckling yet devious Rupert of Rathskeller may come to fruition unless Max can pass himself off successfully as his lookalike.
  21. "Shock It to Me": Max is undercover as a truck driver carrying valuable electronics as three similar shipments have already been hijacked by KAOS. Max is duped out of his shipment as well, but is able to identify the hijacker - except the Chief tells him that he's deceased.
  22. "Leadside": Captured by Max, a wheelchair-bound KAOS agent named Leadside claims he will escape, then destroy CONTROL and then kill Max. He does escape, he does seemingly destroy CONTROL, and so the only thing left is to kill Max.
  23. "Greer Window": Max is shot in his own personal "rear window" while apprehending a KAOS agent. Because he is out of commission whilst his gluteus maximus heals, he must stay at home for a couple weeks. Since the TV is not working properly, he passes the time reading magazines and occasionally looking out his window with a pair of binoculars, to see what is going on in the building across the street.
  24. "The Not-So-Great-Escape" (two-part episode): Over a period of 6 months, 20 CONTROL agents have disappeared, and it's Max's job to protect agent Michael Kendall as he gets on a plane. Unfortunately, Kendall becomes KAOS abductee #21 right from under Max's nose. After the Chief goes missing, Max tries to arrange for himself to be kidnapped in a similar fashion, and uncovers the kidnapping method.

    Season 5 (1969-70) 
  1. "Pheasant Under Glass": Professor Phineas Pheasant is being held prisoner by KAOS within an impregnable glass dome. Smart and 99 try everything to break the glass but have to flee when KAOS agents discover their rescue attempt. On their way out, 99 reveals to Max that she is pregnant.
  2. "Ironhand": IH Industries acquires KAOS, led by a man with an iron fist named Ironhand. He manages to infiltrate CONTROL headquarters, but did not find what he was looking for: the Anti-Anti-Anti-Missile-Missile plans. The Chief decides the best way to transport the plans to safety is to assign Max and 99 to Operation Baby Buggy Switch.
  3. "Valerie of the Dolls": CONTROL finds out that KAOS is planning to destroy California by using a very powerful bomb whose formula is being delivered in 3 parts. The Chief and Max track down one of the parts to the Valerie School for Expectant Fathers and then enroll as students to find out the method used to deliver the formula.
  4. "Widow Often Annie": The Chief orders Max to romance and betroth Ann Cameron, a beautiful widow suspected of murdering her 12 CONTROL agent husbands for their life insurance money, which she then donates to KAOS. Unfortunately, the wedding coincides with The Smarts' first wedding anniversary, much to 99's dismay.
  5. "The Treasure of C. Errol Madre": KAOS heists 5 straight federal payrolls, putting CONTROL into severe financial straits. The Chief sends Max, disguised as recently-deceased prospector Frogsie Debbs, to find Debbs' old partner C. Errol Madre. Debbs and Madre had charted a map leading to a gold find, with each keeping one half of the map until one day they join forces again to get the gold.
  6. "Smart Fell on Alabama": Because he failed to retrieve a little red code book from a KAOS courier, Max has to train three skilled convicts (a pickpocket, strongman, and safe-cracker) to break into a highly fortified mansion where the code book is being kept.
  7. "And Baby Makes Four" (two-part episode): CONTROL has been looking for the location of the new KAOS headquarters for the last 4 months. A new lead has Max doing the surveillance of the bus station on the lookout for KAOS agent Simon the Likable, who has the directions to the headquarters stashed in his coat. Both men are dining at a coffee shop when Max receives a call from 99 saying it's time to go to the hospital to give birth. He rushes out of the coffee shop and takes Simon's coat by mistake. Using the map in Simon's coat, Max and 99 end up at KAOS's new HQ, instead of the maternity ward.
  8. "Physician Impossible": Max has Big Eddie Little in custody but his friends help him escape. Max is able to wound him but he gets away. While visiting their newborns at the hospital, Max and 99 are mistaken for a doctor and his nurse who are then kidnapped to Eddie's hideout to treat the gunshot wound inflicted by Max.
  9. "The Apes of Rath": Six CONTROL agents have been murdered in the last month by someone with incredible strength. The only clue is that each agent received a banana in the mail the morning that they were killed.
  10. "Age Before Duty": Max is bewildered when his young 28-year-old contact dies of old age. A disgruntled CONTROL photographer has developed a paint (called "Dorian Gray"), which causes ageing once the paint is applied on the photo of the intended target.
  11. "Is This Trip Necessary?": KAOS pharmacist Jarvis Pym threatens to poison the Washington water supply with a hallucinogenic drug which renders people incapable of functioning.
  12. "Ice Station Siegfried": It's August but Max and the Chief are snowed in at Miami. In fact, the weather is unusually erratic all over. The Chief assigns 99 while the CIA assigns Agent Quigley — who is so goofy and naive that he makes Max seem sophisticated in comparison — to investigate who may be manipulating the weather this way.
    Don Adams only appears in the cold open of this episode.
  13. "Moonlighting Becomes You": After 99 objects to doing simple assignments after marriage and motherhood, the Chief assigns her to find out how a radio drama is transmitting coded messages to KAOS.
  14. "House of Max" (two-part episode): Max and 99 go to London to investigate a modern-day Jack the Ripper, and meet yet another evil wax museum owner.
  15. "Rebecca of Funny-Folk Farm": Max drops a courier package from a plane and it lands on the roof of a mansion. In an effort to retrieve the package, caught in the pouring rain, Max and 99 seek a temporary refuge from the elements and have to deal with the kooky inhabitants.
  16. "The Mess of Adrian Listenger": While attending the funeral of the latest CONTROL Agent who was mysteriously killed, Max, 99, and The Chief are shocked to find a carved headstone with Max's name on it. It is believed that Adrian Listenger, a CONTROL spy school dropout, is taking his revenge by systematically killing off agents who got him expelled — and his hit list includes both Max and the Chief.
  17. "Witness for the Execution": KAOS agent Dietrich has decided to defect and become an informant. Although this is good news, the Chief is still concerned, seeing that no KAOS defector has ever lived long enough to testify. With the Smarts' nanny unavailable, the Chief's plan is to have Dietrich disguised as the nanny and staying with Max.
  18. "How Green Was My Valet": Max and 99 pose as valet and maid at the Bulmanian Embassy in order to recover a stolen sample of rocket fuel. Meanwhile, Larabee and the Chief have to babysit the twins.
  19. "And Only Two Ninety-Nine": Max comes home from work one evening to find 99 in bed, with a black eye. She's actually an impostor — the real 99 (who gave her the black eye) was kidnapped by KAOS but had escaped. The Chief orders Max to pretend that he's taken in by the deception and for 99 to return to captivity to figure out what KAOS is up to.
  20. "Smartacus": Max and the Chief investigate a series of security leaks that seem to be connected to a chain of Roman Bath spas.
  21. "What's It All About, Algie?": Max poses as a gardener to infiltrate a nursery that is selling plants with hidden surveillance bugs to key people in Washington. The nursery's owner, Algie De Grasse, starts to suspect that Max is actually from CONTROL and plans to feed him to his newest acquisition: a giant man-eating plant.
  22. "Hello, Columbus - Goodbye, America": CONTROL has learned that the direct descendant of Christopher Columbus, Gino Columbus, is the rightful owner of the United States. Max is assigned to guard Gino once he flies into Washington and meets with the President to sign the country back over. However, Max and Gino are captured by KAOS, who would prefer that Gino sign over America to KAOS.
  23. "Do I Hear a Vaults?": The Chief meets Smart at a public library to recover a special book. The book is a master list of CONTROL agents but its hiding place has now been compromised. Max and Larrabee transport the book in an armored car to a bank vault, but Max accidentally locks the vault door on both the Chief and Larrabee, leading to a race against time to free them before the air inside runs out.
  24. "I Am Curiously Yellow": While investigating a villain known as the Whip, Max is hypnotized by his special gong to obey his every command at specific times. Max is eventually instructed to steal the NARCO 5–12, a powerful prototype weapon, from the Chief's safe.
