CONTROL agent Rudolph Hubert, who is also a violinist, has discovered the identity of KAOS's new Mr Big. Before he can pass on the information to the Chief and Max after performing at a concert, he is killed in his dressing room. The Chief and Max go undercover in order to find clues Hubert left behind while also investigating his murder.

- Artistic License – Music: The title work in "Hubert's Unfinished Symphony" was performed solely on piano.
- Bound and Gagged: Max and 99 are tied to a ladder underneath the stage when they are caught by KAOS. They are later released when the KAOS agents activate the Death Trap.
- Chekhov's Hobby: 99 reveals she can play the piano, harp and violin. The Chief decides she's therefore qualified to go undercover as an accompanist.
- Code Name: As Max and the Chief are posing as a music critic and editor, they go by Gregory Wilcox and Franklin Giles respectively.
- Covert Distress Code: Hubert touches his bow to his left shoulder while taking his bows, identifying to Max and the Chief that he is in danger.
- Death Trap: Max and 99 are locked in a store room under the stage with a weight-sensitive floor. If they try to take a step on it towards the exit, they will be crushed by large falling objects.
- Hates Being Touched: Wolenska, who makes his distaste at people touching his hands very clear.
- Instrument of Murder: The CONTROL lab issues Max and 99 with a violin that also acts as a gun.
- It May Help You on Your Quest: Parker provides Max with an inflatable coat, stating it may come in handy. It is later used to help Max float across the booby-trapped floor to reach the deactivation switch.
- Percussive Maintenance: Max uses his shoe and the back of his pistol in an attempt to fix the lock on the Chief's end of the Cone of Silence. Needless to say it doesn't work, and the Chief is only freed when he accidentally falls off the stage, smashing the cone.
- Running Gag: The Cone of Silence returns in portable form, much to the Chief's annoyance.
- Suddenly Shouting: "DON'T TOUCH MY HANDS!!"
- Talking through Technique: Hubert manages to preserve the identity of the new Mr Big in the notes of some sheet music before he is killed.
- Xylophone Gag: Badef places a bomb into Wolenska's piano that is set to go off when he plays the first chord of Hubert's Unfinished Symphony.
