Go To

An EVO-hunting vigilante stirs public opinion against Rex.

Tropes:

  • Easily Condemned: The public is quick to believe Hunter Cain's claims about Rex infecting people with nanites and turn against him, despite all the good he's done for them.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Rex suffers from this very hard when Hunter Cain turns the general public against him by claiming he is "infecting" people with his nanites. Of course, Cain is lured into an Engineered Public Confession and exposed.
  • Humans Are Flawed: Bobo's opinion on humans in general, especially in wake of the prejudice Cain plants in the public. Towards the end, after Rex's heroic deeds undo Cain's hold on them, Bobo points out that although humans are mixed up, they make the right choices sometimes.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Twice.
    • When Rex turns on his smack hands to protect himself from the people ganging up on him, he accidentally strikes a man. He realizes what he did and tries to apologize, but this only angers the public further.
    • In the same scene, after he destroys Cain's henchmen's bus with his battle saw in a fit of rage, Rex immediately realizes what he just did, but it's already too late, so he retreats.
  • Only Sane Man: Outside of Agent Six, Dr. Holiday and Bobo, Noah is the only person who doesn't buy Cain's false claims about Rex infecting people with nanites.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After being bullied by the public for too long, Rex finally loses it and cuts Hunter Cain's bus up with his battle saw. Eventually, he realizes what he did.
  • Special Guest: John Cena as Hunter Cain.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Around the climax, Hunter Cain tries to provoke Rex to kill him, knowing it would be a blow to Rex's reputation. Unaware of a news crew filming him, Rex goes with his gut feeling...and spares Cain.
