  • Apologetic Attacker: Rose apologies to Ed before shooting and missing him.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Ed hits Rose with one of these when she's trying to give him a "The Reason You Suck" Speech about how they want the fake Philosopher's Stone to restore their bodies.
  • Break the Believer: Rose loses her faith in Cornello after Ed reveals the religion as a huge scam.
  • Engineered Public Confession: Ed reveals Cornello's scam to Lior by rigging a large speaker and tricking him to reveal his true motives on air.
  • Eyecatch: Father Cornello and Rose.
  • Famed In-Story: The Fullmetal Alchemist and the Elric brothers are famous enough to be recognized by name.
  • Giving Up the Ghost: Ed does this when the Philosopher's Stone that Cornello is using shatters, revealing it as a fake.

  • Icarus Allusion: Ed tells the tale of Icarus to Rose, referring to his attempt at human transmution and it's consequences.
  • Is This Thing Still On?: Cornello didn't realize that the mic was on while telling Ed about his Evil Plan until the latter showed it to him.
  • Mistaken Identity: The people of Liore and Cornello mistake Al as the Fullmetal Alchemist since he's wearing a full suit of armor. Cue Ed's annoyance.
  • Ring of Power: A false philosopher's stone is affixed to a ring that Cornello wears. It allows him to fake miracles for his followers to believe in amongst other things. Eventually, it gets used up and the stone dissolves, to Ed's dismay.
  • Rousing Speech: Ed gives a gentle one of these to Rose as she kneels in front of Liore's cathedral, crying over her shattered faith.
    Edward Elric: Stand up and walk. Keep moving forward. You've got two good legs. So get up and use them. You're strong enough to make your own path.
  • Scam Religion: The Religion of the Sun God Leto is a scam religion started by Cornello as a means of building up his own devout army.
  • Sickening "Crunch!": Heard at the end of the episode, after Gluttony crouches down next to Cornello's dead body and opens his mouth.
  • Sinister Minister: Cornello plans on using his made up religion for his own selfish gain.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Lust spears Cornello with her fingers after his plans backfire on him.
