Go To

"Another Opening, Another No Show" is an episode in the seventh season of Full House.

Jesse's Smash Club is about to re-open, but a host of trouble threatens to derail the grand opening, culminating with Jesse accidentally getting himself locked inside the storage room with Kimmy, all while the rest of the Tanner family members do their best to get the grand opening as smoothly as they can, in time for the first round of customers, some of whom are college students Steve is bringing to the club.

Tropes seen in this episode include:

  • Air-Vent Passageway: Jesse manages to escape the locked storage room via the air vent leading out of it, though he needs Kimmy's help to fully manage it.
Jesse: Gibbler! I'm stuck! I never thought I'd say this, but, uh... grab the tush and push.
Kimmy: (rubbing her hands excitedly) You got it, boss.
  • Assurance Backfire: When Jesse and Kimmy are trapped inside the locked storage room, Kimmy tries to lift Jesse's mood by reminding him that Jesse's not stuck by himself. Jesse, however, is NOT thrilled with the prospect of being stuck with Kimmy, and reacts by loudly screaming "HELP!" at the door instead.
  • Detachable Doorknob: Jesse and Kimmy are locked inside the storage room together as the result of the doorknob coming off when Kimmy tries to open the door.
Kimmy: What we got here is shoddy craftsmanship.
  • Did You Think I Can't Feel?: While trapped in a storage room on the opening of Jesse's new club, Kimmy calls him out for his remarks about her waitress outfit, stating that the reason she was in the storage closet in the first place was because of his comments.
  • Homage: The group of older women, after starting off getting booed initially upon their introduction, manages to win the club-goers by playing "Whip It" by Devo.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: When Danny is having trouble with the coffee-maker:
Jesse: I said: Read. The. Instructions.
    Danny: They're! In! Italian!
  • Reactive Continuous Scream: As Jesse's stress level is near/at a boiling point inside the storage room, he decides to take the advice Rebecca gave him earlier in the episode (namely, letting out a good scream to feel better) and promptly lets out a scream right then and there. Kimmy, however, happens to be sulking there at the time without his knowledge, and so she screams out of sheer shock in return, which causes Jesse to scream back at her due to his own shock at her sudden reappearance.
  • Sticky Situation: While looking for napkins inside the storage room, Jesse gets a piece of flypaper stuck to his hand, which takes him a moment before he manages to get it off his hand by sticking to a metallic rack instead.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • As Jesse tries to deal with one trouble after another right before the club reopens, he praises Joey as the possibly only person he can count on at this point, only for Joey to present the group members he has booked for the club, who are not the men from R.E.M. but a triplet of older women who happens to share the name, much to Jesse's chagrin.
    • When the operation is finally going smoothly for the Smash Club, Rebecca wonders where Jesse is, before Michelle points to the disco ball that's descending from the ceiling, which Jesse happens to be riding on as he escapes the locked storage room via Air-Vent Passageway.
  • You Are Not Alone: Invoked for comedic effect. As Jesse finds himself locked inside the storage room, Kimmy tries to ease his mood by reminding him he won't be alone in the room. This ends up with Assurance Backfire instead, as the thought of being locked in a room with Kimmy causes Jesse to panic more and start yelling at the door for help.
