Recap / Full House S 6 E 23 The House Meets The Mouse

Go To

"The House Meets the Mouse" is a two-part episode and the last episode in the sixth season of Full House.

In this episode, the Tanners and Kimmy take a family trip to Walt Disney World. Jesse has to juggle work doing his and Joey's radio show on-location and concert rehearsal with Jesse and the Rippers with celebrating his and Rebecca's anniversary. Danny's girlfriend Vicky Larson meets up with them at the parks, and Danny wants to propose to her but has to figure out a way without getting interrupted. Michelle, having gotten many things she's wanted at Stephanie's expense recently, gets the opportunity to be "Princess For a Day" and granted three wishes by the park, which greatly upsets Stephanie as it was her turn that Michelle took. However, Michelle's bossiness gets on the others' nerves, too, so Michelle takes off on her own. Meanwhile, D.J. misses her boyfriend Steve and begins to see his face on various Disney characters in the parks.

Tropes used in this episode:

  • Actor Allusion: D.J. first hallucinates her boyfriend Steve as Aladdin, voiced by the same actor Scott Weinger.
  • Big "NO!": Imagining Steve as Indiana Jones during the stunt show, DJ yells "STEVE, NO!" after he gets run over by the boulder. Realizing she just made a fool of herself in front of the audience, she utters "No… one thinks you're really here." and sheepishly sinks back into her seat.
  • Celebrity Paradox: Aladdin has a major presence in the park, as it was the newest film when the episode aired. As mentioned above, Scott Weigner (Steve) voiced the titular character himself.
  • Cliffhanger: Part 1 ends with Michelle running off into the park on her own, with the other girls trying to look for her in the enormous crowd of people.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Danny gets captivated by the sight of Vicky greeting a little bird at a fountain, almost like a Disney Princess. He tells her that she's so wonderful, even the birds love her.
  • Good-Times Montage: Set to the tune of "Zip-a-Dee Doo-Dah", Danny, Vicky, and the girls spend the day riding iconic attractions like Splash Mountain, Autopia, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: At the animation studio, Joey sketches a crude caricature of himself that suddenly comes to life, now bearing a more polished design. At first it seems like Joey is just imagining this, but the shot of the cartoon giving him a thumb's up at the end implies that this may not be the case.
  • Medium Blending: The scene at the animation studio has Joey interacting with a hand drawn caricature of himself, who springs to life on the page and partakes in some cartoony hijinks.
  • Multi-Part Episode: This is a two-part special that takes place entirely at the Walt Disney World Resort.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When Stephanie asks to go back to the hotel halfway through the day and indicates the day wasn't a fun time for her, Michelle feels guilty for being the main reason Stephanie didn't get to have fun earlier. So she uses her third Princess For a Day wish to let Stephanie be the Princess and ride in the Magic Kingdom parade in her place instead. As a result, Snow White announces this extends to the whole Tanner party getting to be in the parade too.
  • Real After All: One Running Gag in this episode is D.J. seeing Steve as different Disney meet & greet characters before it turns out he's none of them. Near the end of the second part, D.J. sees Steve signing in at the hotel where the Tanner family and Kimmy are staying and wonders if she's losing her mind for mistaking yet another random stranger for Steve, but this time Kimmy confirms that she's also seeing Steve, and all doubt disappears when Steve greets D.J. for real.
  • Running Gag:
    • Danny wants to propose to his girlfriend Vicky but gets interrupted in various ways before he can ask.
    • D.J. seeing Steve as different Disney meet & greet characters. He's shown onscreen as Aladdin, Cinderella's Prince Charming, and Indiana Jones. Kimmy and Stephanie also mention that Robin Hood, Captain Hook, Mary Poppins, and Huey, Dewey & Louie reminded her of Steve.
  • Season Finale: For Season 6.
  • Shout-Out: While doing a headcount at the start of the trip, Danny asks, "Where's Macaulay Culkin?"
  • Smelly Feet Gag: Kimmy utilizes the Dumbo The Flying Elephant attraction to air her smelly shoes out, much to the dismay of Danny and Vicky riding in the elephant behind her.
  • Vacation Episode: The Tanners head to Walt Disney World for a family vacation.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Part 2 reveals that Joey is deathly afraid of sharks... and possibly eggs.
