Recap / Full House S 6 E 21 Room For One More

Go To

"Room for One More?" is an episode in the sixth season of Full House.

Jesse tries to convince Rebecca that they can handle having more children even despite their already busy lives. Trouble arises when Jesse is forced to confront multiple challenges at once when he hosts his radio show segment at home, all while Joey suffers a roller-skating injury, Rebecca has a new weekend reporting job, Nicky has a cold, and Stephanie and Michelle are taking care of a neighbor's pet pig.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Ask a Stupid Question...: Averted. Joey answers D.J.'s question with Sincerity Mode. He does carry out a tone of irritation, but it's only because of Kimmy.
D.J.: [regarding Joey's pain] Oh, is it your back?
Joey: Yes, and my hand. Kimmy's standing on it. Gibbler!
Kimmy: [stepping back and away from Joey's hand] What a whiner.
  • Baby Fever Trigger: After an episode of Jesse trying and failing to convince Becky they could have another baby, Becky agrees to give it a shot after covering a story about a miraculous birth on her news show. Nothing seems to come of it, though, as they never have another baby during the show.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Danny's treatment towards the pig Stephanie and Michelle are taking care of in this episode is mostly reluctant tolerance, and then he outright claims he'd send the pig away "to an animal shelter for wayward animals" when the pig makes a scene at the basement studio. Once it turns out that the pig managed to get people to notice a burned roast pork in the oven in time to prevent a potential house fire, Danny apologizes to the pig and starts treating the pig much more nicely, as shown when he's feeding the pig with so much enthusiasm as to monopolize the bonding time right as the Tanner family is about to watch Rebecca's news show segment.
D.J.: [to Stephanie and Michelle] If Dad adopts him, he sleeps in your room.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: The argument over the wrestling rap song.
Steve: [to Kimmy] The problem is your lyrics.
Kimmy: [to Steve] The problem is your voice.
D.J.: The problem is you're both right.
  • Call-Back: In the fourth season finale "Rock the Cradle", Rebecca presents to Jesse a dish with baby ribs, baby shrimp, and baby corn, in an attempt to signal to him about her pregnancy. In this episode, it's Jesse doing the presenting, with the same dish, and it doesn't take long for Rebecca to notice.
Rebecca: Jess, this is the same dinner I made for you when I told you I was pregnant.
    Jesse: Exactly.
    Rebecca: What are you saying?
Jesse: What I'm saying is... I'm saying Let's Have Another Baby.
  • Is This Thing Still On?: When Danny is temporarily taking over the at-home radio DJ segment while Jesse goes to check up on the boys (especially Nicky), D.J., Kimmy, Steve, and some other boys in the wrestling team enter the studio room in the hope of recording a rap song Kimmy had written for the wrestling team pep rally, and they start to "hit it" after Danny asks to hear what it sounds like and assures them that some pre-recorded songs are playing and that no one would hear them. Cue Jesse listening to their rap song on air while cradling Nicky with an incredulous expression before he manages to compose himself enough to go downstairs into the studio room and get the radio segment back to normal. It turns out that the instruction Joey gave Danny earlier that was meant to play the pre-recorded songs was wrong.
Danny: Jess, I'm sorry. Joey told me to hit the third fader from the left.
Jesse: It's the third fader from the right.
*both Jesse and Danny give a scrutinizing look on Joey, who's still resting on the floor*
Joey: You know, from down here, you really lose all sense of direction.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Danny's been calling Scruffy, the neighbor's pig they're pet-sitting, "that pig", and Michelle and Stephanie point out Scruffy has a name, too, and that Danny wouldn't call either of them "that human".
  • Let's Have Another Baby: Jesse spends the whole episode trying to be the perfect stay-at-home dad to convince Becky they can have another baby. In the end, it's Becky covering a miraculous birth on "Wake Up, San Francisco!" that changes her mind, although they never do have another baby during the course of the show.
  • Moment Killer: The episode ends with this, right after Jesse and Rebecca get in bed and turn off the light.
Rebecca: *after a brief fit of laughter* Jess?
    Jesse: Yeah?
    Rebecca: Your nose is wet.
    *sound of a pig snorting*
    Jesse and Rebecca: SCRUFFY!!!
*Scruffy walks away from the bed*
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Jesse's statement of misgivings about his capacity of taking care of more offspring that he gives to Rebecca includes this line: "I can't take care of three kids... and Joey."
  • Security Cling: Stephanie and Michelle, who are taking care of a neighbor's pet pig, try to convince Danny to let the pig stay inside the house. Joey is on board with the idea, but Danny is unwilling and asks Jesse for his opinion when he turns up. Jesse assumes Danny was referring to Joey until Danny points to the pig in question, at which point the shock of seeing the pig causes Jesse to grab onto Joey, if only for a second, as Joey happens to be next to Jesse at the moment.
  • Sexy Discretion Shot: When Jesse and Becky decide that they'd be okay with having another baby (even though that doesn't end up happening).
Jesse: Just one question... when would you like to start?
    Becky: Now works for me.
    Jesse: Me, too.
[They get in bed, lights out, and the episode ends.]note
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Jesse's attempt to persuade Rebecca into agreeing on having another baby early in the episode by arranging for a radio show segment at home to allow himself to work and take care of the kids, one of whom has a cold, soon becomes a trying time for him when Joey shows up with an injury from a roller-skating accident, the pig Stephanie and Michelle are taking care of runs loose in the house, and the kids need his attention as much as his radio DJ job.
    • When D.J., Kimmy, Steve, and some other boys in the wrestling team enter the studio room in the hope of recording a rap song Kimmy had written for the wrestling team pep rally while Danny is temporarily filling in for Jesse on the radio show segment due to Jesse having to step away for a moment to tend to Nicky, Danny expresses interest in hearing the rap song, claiming that no one else would hear it because Joey gave him the instruction on how to play the pre-recorded songs on private mode. Too bad Danny hadn't expected Joey to accidentally give him a WRONG instruction, causing the radio to play the rap song instead of the pre-recorded ones Danny meant to play, as Jesse can attest upon tuning in to the radio station.
  • Understatement: As Danny escorts Joey downstairs into the basement studio, Joey claims to Jesse his roller-skating injury was "just a little accident". Danny, having heard the full details from Joey earlier, is quick to disagree.
Danny: "Just a little accident"? You told me you tripped over a can, fell into a dumpster, and rolled all the way down a street.
  • You Didn't Ask: Early in the episode, Danny praises Stephanie and Michelle for taking their responsibility seriously with taking care of "Scruffy", which belongs to a neighbor. Danny assumes that it's a dog, only for Michelle to enter with the pet in question — a pig.
Danny: T-That's a pig. You didn't tell me Scruffy was a pig.
    Michelle: Well, you didn't ask.
