Tropes

  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: Joey’s agent Estelle tries to cheer him up after losing his job.
Estelle: Joey, look at me. Look at me!... Do I have lipstick on my teeth?
  • Chair Reveal: Joey does this with one of the recliners to sell Chandler's claim that Eddie never lived in the apartment.
  • Continuity Nod: During the quiz Phoebe brings up Monica sleeping with Paul the Wine Guy on their first date. Rachel then brings up Phoebe sleeping with Monica's ex-boyfriend Jason.
  • Derailing Love Interests: "Roommate", rather. Eddie started out as a fairly normal guy, but between the previous episode and this one, goes completely off the deep end in order to justify Chandler kicking him out and letting Joey move back in.
  • Door Slam of Rage: Played for Laughs when the girls start arguing while taking the Goddess quiz. Monica and Rachel storm off to their bedrooms, slamming the doors behind them. Phoebe is left standing in the living room, and in lieu of a door she opens and slams shuts a decorative box.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Literally. Eddie's ex-girlfriend returns an empty aquarium to Chandler's apartment, and when Eddie sees it, he assumes Chandler killed the fish inside it. Eddie then replaces it with a new fish, but not before trying to replace it with a Goldfish cracker first.
  • Reset Button: Joey moves back in with Chandler. In fact, Chandler claims to Eddie that Joey was always his roommate, and Eddie's just crazy enough to buy it.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: Joey receives a credit card bill for all the decorations he bought. Well, the first of two bills. He’s shocked at the amount, but then Ross points out that he’s looking at the minimum amount due, and then shows him the total due.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stalker without a Crush: Chandler wakes up to find Eddie watching him at the side of his bed. He claims that watching Chandler sleep calms him.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: Eddie will not take a hint that Chandler wants him gone. At one point he appears to understand and leaves, but returns the next day claiming that he and Chandler went to Las Vegas.
    Chandler: Oh sweet Moses!
