Release Date:

The Wrath of Guitierrez: Guitierrez finds a way into the Internet and Freakazoid must defeat his powerful enemy.

Tropes Found in this Episode:

  • Actor Allusion: Aside from the title bringing one of Ricardo Montalbán's notable roles to mind, Guitierrez can also dance the Flamenco like Montalbán's character did in Fiesta.
  • Aside Comment: In response to Guitierrez showing some slick dance moves, Freakazoid lets out a sincere "Wow" to the audience.
  • Aside Glance: Freakazoid's response to Roddy ranting about having to give all the cruddy exposition.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": Freakazoid's reaction to Guitierrez blasting him is over the top, full of prolonged grunts and strained movements. Guitierrez outright tells him to knock off the bad acting.
  • Berserk Button: Guitierrez hates being called a “weenie”.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Freakazoid wakes up screaming after his nightmare/vision of Guitierrez calling out to him.
  • Epic Fail: Deadpan plans to pose as Freakazoid as part of her fiendish plan. The first person to see her like this is the real Freakazoid, who politely greets her while walking by.
  • Exact Words: Guitierrez invokes this after Freakazoid manages to get the bomb off his wrist before it explodes.
    Freakazoid: Can I go now?
Guitierrez: Oh no, my friend. We have had our fun, but now it is time for you to be eliminated.
    Freakazoid: But you said-!
Guitierrez: I said that if you found the key, you would not be “deleted”. I made no other promises.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Guitierrez forces Freakazoid to take part in Amazing Castle. Freakazoid uses the sunglasses he found during the course of this adventure to deflect Guitierrez's blast back at him and send him over the edge.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Refusing to stay in the hospital, Freakazoid insists he's fine, tries to walk out the door, and immediately falls over.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Cosgrove apologizes for not getting Freakazoid to the hospital sooner, saying he thought the spasms were just one of his usual skits.
  • Laugh with Me!: The Trope Namer shouts it, first when challenging Freakazoid to face him and later when he's rushing into the castle to begin the game. When Guitierrez later falls into the pit, he tells Freakazoid to scream with him.
  • Locked into Strangeness: Due to being zapped into the internet back in “The Chip Part II”, Roddy now has two white lightning bolt-shaped streaks in his hair like Freakazoid.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Right before Guitierrez falls into the pit.
Guitierrez: Freakazoid, help me! Would you let your father fall?
Freakazoid: My father? You're my father?
Guitierrez: O-oh, yes. I am your father!
    Freakazoid: Well, w-who's my mother?
    Guitierrez: Uhh... Faye Dunaway.
    Freakazoid: No, she's not.
    Guitierrez: Uh, Kaye Ballard?
    Freakazoid: Kaye—nah.
Guitierrez: Would you believe Sandy Duncan?
  • Luxury Prison Suite: Guitierrez has a very lavish and nicely decorated cell. Besides the computer and games, he also has a piano, several pieces of artwork, and a fancy dinner.
  • Might as Well Not Be in Prison at All: The episode opens with Guitierrez in prison, but he has enough pull and intimidating personality to ensure the warden gives him the phone line that is crucial to his revenge scheme.
  • Mr. Exposition: Roddy serves this role when telling Freakazoid about Guitierrez’s revenge plan. He’s not happy about it.
Freakazoid: Boy, you got a lot of lines on this show.
Roddy: Aye, that’s what I told ‘em! But no, all the cruddy exposition goes to me! I’ve got to talk and talk, and fiddle with the computer, and talk some more, and fiddle and talk. I feel like Obi-Wan cruddy Kenobi!
  • Never Found the Body: During the wrap-up, Freakazoid says he did go looking for Guitierrez, but finding nothing, he simply fixed his power supply, made sure Roddy wasn't locked out, and left.
  • Never My Fault: Guitierrez wants revenge for being put in prison, which only happened because he threatened the Douglas family and was engaged in other criminal behavior.
  • No-Sell: Freakazoid's efforts to physically fight the new and improved Guitierrez mean nothing. His goofy antics also completely fail to distract him.
  • No, You: Guitierrez's reaction to being called a weenie is to shout this at Freakazoid.
  • Public Service Announcement: Parodied. Freakazoid balks at staying in the hospital because he's creeped out by such places, but he stresses that the kids at home should always go to the hospital when they need to. Cosgrove joins in to talk about the benefits of hospitals, and Joe says this was all brought to you by the National Federation of Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Race Against the Clock: Freakazoid has an hour to complete the Amazing Castle game or the bracelet's delete mechanism will destroy him. He makes it with one second to spare.
  • Self-Deprecation: After Roddy announces that there will be no more cruddy exposition, the scene cuts to a live-action audience applauding.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Deadpan turns into Barbra Streisand, Hillary Clinton and Princess Diana, with an adequate music cue for each.
    • Freakazoid's entry into cyberspace is a riff on 2001: A Space Odyssey. He even bumps into Dave, who wants to know where the bathroom is.
    • In the last scene, Freakazoid, Cosgrove, and Roddy watch Congo, with Cosgrove consistently failing to tell the difference between the real monkeys and the guys in costume.
  • The Stinger: "I hope the Humanitas Committee is watching."
  • Suddenly Shouting: While watching Congo, Cosgrove's consistent failure to tell the difference between real monkeys and guys in suits annoys Roddy into doing this.
    Roddy: THAT'S A GUY IN A SUIT!
  • This Is Gonna Suck: During their last fight, Freakazoid tries tickling Guitierrez and sees that's going nowhere.
Freakazoid: You're not likin' any of this, are ya?
[Guitierrez effortlessly throws him to the ground]
  • Villain Respect: Guitierrez commends Freakazoid for finding the key to remove the bracelet in the nick of time.
