Breathtaking.

Mokey is going on a hike up Wonder Mountain for a solitary meditative experience: the Aurora Fragglealis, which appears only once every thousand days. She asks Red to plant-sit Lanford while she's gone. Worried that Mokey is too dreamy to survive the treacherous journey with only a guidebook for protection, Red secretly follows her, leaving Gobo, Wembley, and Boober to plant-sit. She tries to ensure Mokey's safety but only manages to keep endangering herself. After Mokey saves her from the mind-control music of the Singing Cactus, Red pretends that she came because she also wants to see Wonder Mountain, and Mokey reluctantly lets Red join her.

Shortly afterward, Red accidentally leads them to the Avalanche Monster. As they try to evade the monster, Red reveals her real reason for being there. Mokey becomes indignant, but they put their issues aside and manage to get the Avalanche Monster off their tail by leading him to the Singing Cactus. Red and Mokey reach the peak of Wonder Mountain and take in the sight of the Aurora Fragglealis.

Outer Space: Ms. Ardath asks Sprocket to watch her vegetable garden, which an animal has been raiding. Sprocket is eager to accept, but Doc thinks Sprocket is too gentle to guard against a potentially dangerous creature and decides to secretly keep an eye on him.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Accidental Public Confession: Red does this while she and Mokey are hiding from the Avalanche Monster.
Mokey: Red, we're really in trouble now!
Red: Well, don't panic, Mokey. I came on this trip to protect you, and I will!
    [A Beat.]
    Mokey: You what?
    [A longer beat.]
    Red: Uh-oh...!
  • Babysitting Episode: Not quite babysitting, per se, but Red asks Mokey to plant-sit Lanford while she's on her hike up Wonder Mountain. After deciding to secretly follow Mokey in order to protect her, Red gets Gobo, Wembley, and Boober to watch Lanford instead.
  • Blind Without 'Em: The Avalanche Monster has bad eyes and wears glasses.
  • Cactus Person: The Singing Cactus.
  • Clothing Damage: This happens to Red when she falls off the Invisible Bridge and into a gully spanning Wonder Trail.
  • Declaration of Protection: Red secretly follows Mokey up Wonder Mountain, making it her goal to protect her from all the dangers along the way.
  • Distress Ball: Red tries to put up a barrier to keep Mokey from getting too close to the Singing Cactus and causing them to sing their mind-control music. While trying to decide how far away to put the barrier, she gets too close herself, and they begin singing, hypnotizing her into joining in. Mokey finds her and, wearing radishes as earplugs, drags her away.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Lanford finds his plant food disgusting.
  • Evil Laugh: The Avalanche Monster cackles evilly as he chases Red and Mokey.
  • Feed by Example: Gobo tries to get Lanford to eat by eating some of the plant food himself. Lanford eats some, then makes a disgusted noise and swallows a bar of Boober's soap.
  • Great Big Book of Everything: Red brings Mokey a ton of protective equipment for her hike up Wonder Mountain, but Mokey says that all she needs is her guidebook, Wonder Mountain on Five Radishes a Day. Later, when they're trying to get the Avalanche Monster off their tail, Red suggests looking him up in the book. On reading that he has bad eyes but a keen sense of hearing, they get the idea of leading him to the Singing Cactus.
  • Heartfelt Apology: When she and Mokey are nearly at the top of Wonder Mountain, Red apologizes for all the trouble she's caused.
Red: I was so busy protecting you, I've caused us a lot of trouble! I'm sorry. Ohhh, if I had stayed home, none of this would have happened!
[They reach the top and gasp in awe at the changing colors of the Aurora Fragglealis.]
Mokey: Look! Oh, Red! [A beat.] You know what? I'm really glad you followed me, 'cause... well, now I'm here with my best friend.
  • Hiccup Hijinks: After a failed attempt to get the soap out of Lanford, Gobo grudgingly agrees to give him mouth-to-leaf resuscitation. It works, but Gobo swallows the soap and begins hiccuping bubbles.
  • I Can't Hear You: After Mokey drags Red away from the Singing Cactus:
Red: Mokey, you can take your hands off my ears now!
Mokey: WHAT? I can't hear you! I've got radishes in my ears!
Red: So THAT'S why she wasn't enchanted by the Singing Cactus!
  • Invisibility: Wonder Trail has a gully, which is spanned by the Invisible Bridge.
Mokey: [reading guidebook] "Built in the last stage by the Magician Doozers, the Invisible Bridge is completely invisible."
  • Involuntary Dance: The Singing Cactus hypnotize Red into singing and dancing with them.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Red and Mokey do this to the Avalanche Monster in order to lead him to the Singing Cactus.
    Red: This way, Pebble Brain!
Mokey: Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah!
  • Meanwhile, Back at the…: Aside from Doc and Sprocket, the story also turns back to Gobo, Wembley, and Boober and their dilemma with trying to get the soap out of Lanford.
  • Mind-Control Eyes: Red's pupils are reduced to dots after she falls under the Singing Cactus' spell.
  • Mind-Control Music: The Singing Cactus' doo-wop song: "Do the Sashay." They sing it to ensnare anyone who gets too close to them into singing and dancing along for all eternity.
    Cactus #1: [singing] There's a new sensation
    Spreadin' far and near.
It's the hit of the nation!
    And it's startin' right here.
  • Parrot Exposition: This happens after Mokey saves Red from the Singing Cactus, when Red is trying to think how to answer Mokey's question of what she was doing there without giving away the real reason.
Mokey: Red, what were you doing out there?
Red: Uh... what was I doing out there?
Mokey: Yeah, and what are you doing out here?
Red: Um... what am I doing out here?
Mokey: Right, and how in the world did you get so messed up?
Red: And how did I get so messed up?
Mokey: Yeah, and why do you keep repeating everything I say?
  • Rock Monster: The Avalanche Monster is made of gray rocks.
  • Scaling the Summit: Red and Mokey, climbing to the top of Wonder Mountain.
  • Scenery Porn: The Aurora Fragglealis: a gorgeous phenomenon where the sky changes from dark blue to purple to light blue to orange, and so on...
Mokey: [in awe] Look. The Aurora Fragglealis!
Red: It's better than the book!
  • Smelly Skunk: Doc and Sprocket encounter one in Ms. Ardath's garden while Sprocket is keeping watch. Only Doc gets sprayed.
  • Stopping the Blame Game: After Red reveals her real reason for following Mokey...
Red: I only broke my promise because you're my best friend, and I was worried about you!
Mokey: If you were my best friend, you would have trusted me! You would have kept your promise. Ohhh! I can take care of myself. Hmmph.
    Red: Oh, you can, you?
    Mokey: I can, yes.
Red: Well, who marked the Invisible Bridge for you?
    Mokey: What?
Red: And who saved you from the Singing Cactus?
Mokey: [unable to believe what she's hearing] The Singing Cactus?
Red: And... and who got us into this mess with the Avalanche Monster?
    Mokey: [furious] You did!
  • Unconventional Food Usage: While leading the Avalanche Monster to the Singing Cactus, Red and Mokey use radishes as earplugs.
  • Unwanted Assistance: Trying to protect Mokey, Red secretly follows her on her hike up Wonder Mountain, even though she had promised to trust Mokey to be able to take care of herself. Red falls off the Invisible Bridge when attempting to mark it for Mokey, while Mokey crosses the bridge with no trouble. Then Red tries to put up a barrier to keep Mokey from getting too close to the Singing Cactus—but she gets too close herself, is hypnotized by their singing, and has to be rescued by Mokey. Finally, when Mokey lets Red join her on the hike, Red insists they're going the wrong way and accidentally leads them to the Avalanche Monster.
  • Wrong Assumption: Red thinks Mokey is too dreamy to survive the dangers of Wonder Mountain with only a guidebook for protection. With the help of the book, Mokey handles them fine, even managing to save Red when she gets captured by the Singing Cactus.
