"Finally! Our own cave!"
Telling Gobo, who's sure they can't live together peacefully, that they can do so, Red and Mokey find an empty cave and move in. Over time, each starts to get annoyed with the other's habits. For the sake of getting along, they pretend to like the same things but grow more and more irritated with each other. This comes to a head at their cave-warming party, when Mokey thwacks Red out of her hammock and into the Great Hall's swimming pool. Red returns to get her stuff and leave, but she and Mokey try to talk out their differences before Red thwacks Mokey out of the hammock and into the pool. After a fierce argument, they realize they were trying too hard to like the same things. They reconcile, agreeing to disagree and just be themselves.

This episode contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: Friends don't have to like the same things in order to get along—just Be Yourself.
  • Agree to Disagree: Red says word for word that she and Mokey are doing this.
Gobo: Uh, you two are being honest with each other now, right?
    Mokey: Yes, Gobo.
Red: We're agreeing to disagree. Uh... sometimes, anyway.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
Red: Mokey, come over here and sit down. Let's talk about it.
Mokey: Oh, gee. Okay. [Sits in Red's hammock.]
Red: For instance, when you thwacked me out of this hammock and into the pool...
    Mokey: Yeah...?
Red: Well, if I had been really, really honest...
    Mokey: Mmm-hmm...?
Red: I would have done this!
    [Flings Mokey out.]
  • Be Yourself: At the end of the episode, Red and Mokey agree to do this instead of pretending to like the same things.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: At the party, when their argument becomes too heated, the usually gentle Mokey, in a moment of tranquil fury, thwacks Red out of her hammock and into the pool.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": During the fight, when Gobo tries to offer some unwanted advice, Mokey tells him in no uncertain terms to stay out of it.
Mokey: This is between me... and HER!
  • Break-Up/Make-Up Scenario: The episode climaxes with Red and Mokey's big fight, with them yelling at each other, starting with each stating what the other did to annoy her and ending with them telling each other that they like each other for who they are and that neither wants the other to change.
Red: You didn't have to like it! I like it! Oh, why did I have to agree with everything you like?
Mokey: You don't have to agree with me! I don't want you to be like me!
Red: Well, what do you want?
Mokey: [shaking Red] I want you to be like YOU! You is what I like about you!
Red: But you is what I like about you!
    [A Beat]
    Mokey: ...oh.
    Red: ...Oh!
Mokey: Oh... well, if me is what you like about me, then me is what you'll get.
    Red: Okay. Same for me.
Mokey: Well... see? We do agree, Red!
    Red: Yeah!
    [They hug.]
  • Comically Missing the Point: Several times in this episode.
    • When Mokey is meditating in Gobo and Wembley's room, and Red runs in and accidentally hits Gobo with a racket:
Gobo: Don't you have someplace else to go, Red?
Red: Well, sure, but... but we like to hang out here. Right, Mokey?
Mokey: Well, yeah, but it certainly isn't very tranquil around here.
Gobo: Well, Wembley and I would like a little peace and quiet sometimes.
Wembley: Yeah! Who needs tranquil? We want peace and quiet!
Gobo: [chuckling] You tell 'em, Wembley.
    • After Mokey's Morning Routine awakens Red, Red strikes Mokey's gong out of frustration, and Mokey is touched that Red is participating in the morning ritual.
    • Mokey, on seeing Red pumping granite, attempts to do the same and ends up falling flat on her back, pinned across the neck by the barbell. Red remarks that Mokey shouldn't attempt "neck lifts" until she's more advanced at it.
    • While the girls are out gathering food and plants for their cave-warming party, Mokey doesn't even notice Red being attacked by the Murk Monster, even though it's happening right behind her and Red is screaming for her life. When the monster lets Red go and Red collapses onto the ground, Mokey scolds Red for choosing that moment to take a nap.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • On the first night in their new cave, Mokey is reading her poem "White Birds and Death" to Red, introduced in the episode "Mokey's Funeral." When the poem goes on too long for Red, she asks to take a turn reading. Much to Mokey's horror, Red's book of choice is about Gwenalyn, a princess who slays a dragon with her magic sword.
    • This episode introduces Doc's neighbor, Ms. Ardath. She has an Airedale Terrier named Marigold, who Sprocket develops a crush on. Doc mentions in all "All Work and All Play" that Sprocket has always liked Airedales.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Mokey's reaction when Red and the others laugh about a sock that's landed on her nose.
  • Fingore: Downplayed. Uncle Matt hides in the toy box of two girls coming in to clean up their room. The lid slams on his hand.
  • "Getting My Own Room" Plot: Inverted. Red used to live in a room by herself, as did Mokey. In this episode, they decide to be roommates.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: The toy box Uncle Matt hides in is full of stuffed animals. There's also a Bert doll.
Uncle Matt [to a stuffed panda] Can I get you some honey?
  • I Warned You: Gobo says this to Red after Mokey thwacks her out of her hammock.
Gobo: I just knew you guys'd never be able to agree on anything!
  • Morning Routine: Mokey's includes rhyming incantations and banging a gong, much to Red's chagrin when the two first move in together. Mokey is equally perplexed by Red's morning routine of "pumping granite."
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Red's hammock becomes this after she and Mokey make up.
Red: [calling out the window] Hey, everybody! Come on up for a hammock-thwacking cave-warming party!
  • Nature Spirit: After Red and Mokey discover the cave...
Mokey: O Spirit of the Cave, we thank you for this cozy home!
  • Oh, Crap!: Red, when she notices the Murk Monster behind her.
  • Prehensile Tail: The Fraggles have somewhat prehensile tails—Red can lift a dumbbell with hers, and she and Gobo can entwine theirs to play Tug-o'-Tails (like tug-o'-war, but with... you know).
  • Rule of Pool: Red and Mokey's cave overlooks the Great Hall's swimming pool. They wind up thwacking each other out of Red's hammock and into the water.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Subverted. Red and Mokey's fight escalates until they're both ready to move out. Ultimately, though, they make up and decide to stay.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Red establishes this relationship with Lanford, Mokey's pet plant.
  • "Somewhere" Song: "Somewhere There's a Special Place," sung by Red and Mokey, is basically this. It includes two fantasy sequences as they each imagine the perfect cave to share. Mokey wants a cozy, tranquil place, while Red wants a cheery one with lots of room to play.
  • Suppressed Rage: Red and Mokey, when they get annoyed with each other's habits but pretend to like the same things for the sake of getting along.
  • Themed Party: Mokey decides to make "circular" the theme of the party: round decorations, round food, despite Red's insistence that Fraggles don't eat that. Boober thinks the round food is adorable.
Mokey: [holding flowers] You know, I am going to weave these into an unbroken circle symbolizing our friendship and the happy containment of our lives.... You know what, I've been thinking. We should make circles the whole theme of our party. Circles express wholeness.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Sandwich: At the party, Red and Gobo decide to play Tug-o'-Tails and have refreshments at the same time, much to Mokey's dismay. They crash into the table, sending the food flying.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Red and Mokey. Gobo claims they won't be able to coexist peacefully because of this. He's right, but at the end, they work it out.
  • Tranquil Fury: Mokey has a moment of this when she calmly flings Red out of her hammock.
  • Trash of the Titans: No sooner has Mokey neatly arranged her belongings on her side of the room than Red enters, telling a group of Fraggles where to pile her barbells, paper chains, and various sports equipment.
Red: Oh... oh, hi, Mokey. I didn't bring all my stuff, because I didn't want to clutter up the place. But I did bring my Tug-o'-Tails championship trophy! [Sets it down to admire it.] Beautiful! Now...
[Mokey, meanwhile, is staring in horror at the heap of stuff on Red's side of the room.]
  • Welcoming Song: "Share and You're Not Alone," sung by Red and Mokey to welcome the others to their new cave.
  • Word, Schmord!: When Gobo says he's brought a cave-warming present to the party...
Mokey: Thank you, Gobo. That was really gracious of you.
    [Red groans.]
Gobo: Yeah. It's the latest postcard from my Uncle Traveling Matt.
    Red: Ohhh, gracious, schmacious!
  • The X of Y: The episode's title.
