Why not just not spill the milk in the first place?
When Doc boards up the hole to Outer Space while Gobo is still there, Red, Mokey, Boober, and Wembley try to think up various ways to rescue him. After a while, they find a way to get Gobo out, though not in the way they had planned.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Bizarre Instrument: Doc makes one from a number of objects, including some party blowers.
  • Continuity Nod: At the end of the episode "Beginnings," Sprocket was barking into the hole, and Doc had said not to worry, because he'd board it up one day. In this episode, he does just that.
  • Company Cross References:
Doc: Aw, look! I got a letter from Kermit.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Mokey is in such a rush to bring the rock she found as ammunition for the catapult, she doesn't notice the milk Red (deliberately) spilled on the ground—and slips in it, knocking Boober into the catapult and accidentally launching him from it.
  • Good Luck Charm: Lampshaded by Boober.
Boober: [walking to the boarded-up hole] I wish I'd remembered to wear my lucky orange socks. I've never been this far up the tunnel alone before!
  • Lampshade Hanging: Right before the musical number "Feel So Bad," Red comments how the Fraggles' typical response to a crisis is to sing about it first. When what's supposed to be a sad song becomes an uptempo gospel foot-stomper, Wembley mentions that singing that "sad song" made them much too happy. Not to mention, it made them forget all about Gobo.
  • Look Behind You: When Sprocket starts growling at Gobo, he momentarily distracts him by shouting, "Hey, look! There's Santy Claus!"
  • Lost Food Grievance: Red and Wembley find the Trash Heap crying because she just spilled a cup of milk.
The Trash Heap: [crying] It was the last milk we had! I was looking forward to it.
Philo: Ohhh, Marjory, don't cry over spilt milk!
    Gunge: Yeah!
The Trash Heap: Yes, yes. You're right, of course. That's good advice. [Sniffs.]
  • Made of Iron: Boober is accidentally used as the ammunition for the catapult and seems to move around pretty okay in spite of this.
  • Magic Wand: Gobo tries using a stick as one when Sprocket starts barking at him. It doesn't work.
Gobo: [waving stick] Back, boy! When I say the magic words, I will vanish in a puff of smoke! Abracadabra!
  • Mistaken for Profound: The Trash Heap's advice when Red and Wembley ask her how to save Gobo: "Don't cry over spilt milk."
  • Mundane Made Awesome: A bunch of party blowers become a musical instrument that Gobo enjoys the sound of.
Gobo: [dancing while hiding under a box] Even a Fraggle in trouble likes good music.
  • One Dialogue, Two Conversations:
    • The Trash Heap, upset over her milk being spilt while Philo and Gunge tell her to not cry, instructs Red and Wembley to do the same when they come to get her advice on how to save Gobo.
    • Later, the Fraggles tell one another of their plan to save Gobo.
Red: Hey, gang! Gobo is about to rescued!
Mokey: We know! We have the Doozers' catapult!
Red: We have the Trash Heap's magic!
      Wembley: Yes!
Boober: The catapult will break through the wall!
Wembley: Don't cry over spilt milk! That's the magic!
      Red: Isn't it great?
      Wembley: Yeah!
      Mokey: Isn't it wonderful?
      [A Beat.]
Mokey and Red: [in unison] What are you talking about?
  • Oh, Crap!: Gobo has a quiet one when he sees Doc boarding up the hole.
  • Skewed Priorities: When Wembley tells the others of Gobo's predicament, their response is to sing "Feel So Bad," almost forgetting Gobo. Not to mention, what's supposed to be a sad song turns into a call-and-response Gospel Music rave-up—much to Boober's disgust.
  • Title Drop: Red, Wembley, Philo, Gunge and the Trash Heap all do this with the episode's title.
  • Trapped in Another World: Gobo in Outer Space.
  • Triumphant Reprise: After Gobo is freed, he and his friends sing a triumphant reprise of "Feel So Bad"—changing it to "Feel So Glad."
  • Trying Not to Cry: After Red pours milk on the ground...
Wembley: I'm... I'm starting to tear up, Red!
    Red: Wembley! You mustn't!
