Worried about his Uncle Matt's safety because he hasn't received a postcard for almost two weeks, Gobo declares he's going to Outer Space to rescue him, despite his own doubts about the journey. On the encouragement from the other Fraggles that he'll make it, Gobo leaves... only to return a few minutes later with a card from Uncle Matt, stating that he had the flu.This episode contains examples of:
- Big Storm Episode: There's a thunderstorm in Doc's part of Outer Space.
- Bravado Song: Gobo and a bunch of other Fraggles sing "Catch the Tail by the Tiger" as he vows to be brave enough to venture into Outer Space to rescue Uncle Matt.
- But Now I Must Go: Gobo's insistence on going out to Outer Space despite his friends telling him he doesn't have to.
- Delicious Distraction: To trap Sprocket into accompanying him on his walk in a thunderstorm so Sprocket can test Doc's latest invention, an umbrella-shaped lightning-deflector hat, Doc offers Sprocket a piece of red licorice, then puts his leash on him while he's eating.Doc: Now, in the unlikely event that you are struck by lightning, this rod here will collect the electricity and channel it down through the coil of this transformer. Of course, I haven't tested this invention yet, but...
- Help, I'm Stuck!: While singing "Catch the Tail by the Tiger", Gobo climbs to the top of a large stalagmite. When the song ends...Wembley: Um, how are you gonna get down from there, Gobo?
Gobo: [gulps] That's a good question. - Hope Spot: The Trash Heap tells Gobo that Uncle Matt probably just has the flu. Just as Gobo gets back to the Great Hall, extremely relieved that he doesn't have to go look for his uncle after all, his friends surprise him with a going away party.
- Melancholy Musical Number: The atmosphere becomes very serious when Gobo is just about to leave, with a group of Fraggles sadly singing "Now's the Time for Parting."
- Noisy Shut-Up: The other Fraggles are planning to surprise Gobo with a going away party. Red yells, "QUIET!" so that Mokey can ask if everyone has a good hiding place.
- Out Sick: The Trash Heap's idea that Uncle Matt has the flu turns out to have been the case at the end of the episode, when Gobo finally gets a card from him.
- Prized Possession Giveaway: While getting ready to leave for Outer Space, Gobo gives Wembley his collection of smoothies (smooth pebbles), then takes out a medal and asks him to give it to Red after he's left.Gobo: It's a prize. The only prize I ever won.

Gobo: Pie eating. Honorable mention. - Rummage Sale Reject: As displayed in the page image, Gobo's outfit for Outer Space is over the top and serves no practical purpose for the journey, but no one seems to notice this.
- "Setting Off" Song: The other Fraggles sing "Rollin', Rollin' On" as they prepare Gobo for his journey.
- Title Drop: Gobo does this in the song "Catch the Tail by the Tiger."
- Umbrellas Are Lightning Rods: Doc invents an umbrella-shaped lighting-deflector hat for Sprocket so he and Doc can take a walk in the thunderstorm. It works, albeit offscreen.
- Wrong Assumption: Gobo, who hasn't received a postcard for almost two weeks, thinks Uncle Matt's in trouble. It turns out that he had the flu.
