Soma and Hisako Arato have to work together for a week as stagiaires (interns) in a restaurant unable to handle both the local clientele and travelers from the new train station. Meanwhile, Megumi and Erina are working in a high-end restaurant.
This episode provides examples of:
- The Ace: Right from the first day, Erina imposes her authority and takes over the restaurant she is doing the internship in, to the point all the staff defer to her and the actual head chef had to obey her as well.
- Adaptation Expansion: A brief scene is added where Soma makes Ryou taste his Karaage rolls with different sauces.
- Adapted Out: Some of the jokes present in the manga are omitted, like Soma and the others correctly guessing that Jun almost failed her Stagiaire.
- Berserk Button: Megumi praises Soma. Erina....Megumi: [lacking clue] I wonder if I said something that got on her nerves.
- The Bus Came Back: Hisako returns from her self-imposed exile after losing to Akira.
- Call-Back: Soma fulfills his obligation to loan Erina a manga series. Well, partly — he gives them to Hisako and convinces her to deliver them.
- Evolving Credits: In the ending 'Snow Drop', the person lying in the flower field is Hisako.
- Fire-Forged Friends: Hisako loses her antagonism toward Soma as they have to work together to handle the rushes of customers.Hisako: This is like a battlefield! There isn't a moment's rest between each wave!
- Humble Pie: Hisako starts out being defensive towards Soma, shutting down every piece of advice he tries to give, claiming she already had experience from the academy. When she finally gets a taste of a real restaurant shift, combined with Akira's "The Reason You Suck" Speech, she swallows her pride and starts heeding Soma's words.
- Informed Ability: Kasayama, the head chef of the French restaurant Excellent, is bucking for a Michelin star, but he gets schooled by Erina.
- Male Gaze: While in the manga the shot of Hisako changing uniforms is only focused on her shoulder, the anime makes a full take on Hisako changing in the closet.
- Meaningful Echo: Hisako gives a passionate speech to Mitamura's staff about how they have to change if they want to adapt to the new environment. Soma repeats this to her regarding her relationship with Erina and how she has to be her equal rather than her follower.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: Megumi worries that this will affect her by working with Erina, as she won't get a chance to contribute anything before the week ends. She manages to overcome this when she comes up with a solution that Erina didn't consider.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite being on the Elite Ten and her elitist views, Erina is courteous towards Megumi and she makes the head chef listen to Megumi's suggestion.
- Taught by Experience: Soma's years of experience in a restaurant prove to be invaluable during the stagiaire, as he's able to keep calm in the pressures of a lunch rush. Hisako, by comparison, may have dealt with large volumes of cooking during the training camp, but that was merely preparing the same meal over and over. She has never had to deal with multiple random orders for all sorts of food all at once and was quickly overwhelmed.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Hisako has really been suffering from low self-esteem. She gets better when the restaurant staff praise her, as well as Soma.Waitress: Totsuki's students sure are different.
Hisako: Yes. He has practical experience, as well.
Waiter: What? We're talking about you, too! - You Remind Me of X: Upon meeting Mitamura's owner, Soma immediately associates him with his neighbour Tomita.
