Upset with Oscar's morning announcements being boring to everyone as always, Bea updates the announcements to feature new segments and a different set. But when she goes too far with the segments, she leaves out the important announcements, leading to a catastrophe within the school.

This trope includes examples of:

  • '80s Hair: Bea wears a big bouffant hairstyle when she starts co-hosting the news show.
  • An Aesop: Important information may not always be the most exciting, but that doesn’t mean it should be ignored.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Oscar gets quite the heroic moment in this episode when he flies in on a helicopter to deliver lunch to the rest of the students.
  • Brick Joke: After Oscar quits the show, Bea says that without him it’s like there’s a “big, sweaty piece missing”. Later, Principal Stickler refers to Oscar as the “tall, sweaty kid”.
  • Boring, but Practical: Oscar’s morning announcements are informative, but extremely dry and boring.
  • Change the Uncomfortable Subject:
Milo: Mr. Baldwin? Yeah, I was wondering how come male seahorses can get pregnant?
Mr. Baldwin: Oh, look at that! It’s time for Oscar’s morning announcements.
  • Comfort Food: Because Bea’s feeling guilty about Oscar quitting the new show, Milo offers to buy her a kelp shake from the cafeteria.
Bea: Maybe a chocolate kelp shake will help me forget what a terrible, show-stealing friend I am.
  • Cosmetic Catastrophe: A Gross-Up Close-Up shows Bea’s stage makeup as this.
  • Hey, You!: Principal Stickler, despite being shown watching the morning show, doesn’t bother to learn Bea’s name and just calls her “girl with the red hair”.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: Bea completely takes over the morning announcements and includes so many nonsensical segments that there’s no more room for any actual news.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: As the class is dreading Oscar’s news show, Bea says maybe he’ll pull it off this time. Immediately after that, Oscar nervously drops all his notes.
    Bea: Or, maybe not!
  • It's All My Fault: Bea blames herself as the school erupts into chaos over the cafeteria being closed, and rightfully so considering it was the changes she made to the show that led to the message about the kids needing to bring their lunches being cut.
  • Meat-O-Vision: The mere thought of having to skip lunch is enough to make Clamantha hallucinate Albert Glass as a talking drumstick.
    • The same thing happens to Milo, who sees Bea as an apple.
  • Mistakes Are Not the End of the World: When Bea apologizes to Oscar for taking over his show and sending the school into a panic, he tells her that everyone makes mistakes and friends forgive each other.
  • Nap-Inducing Speak: Oscar’s announcements are so boring that Milo curls up on his desk and falls asleep.
  • Performance Anxiety: Oscar is clearly uncomfortable in front of the camera, which makes his morning announcements awkward and boring.
  • Shout-Out: The "Kerplopity" game Clamantha does is similar to Plinko on The Price is Right.
  • Staggered Zoom: The camera zooms in on the closed cafeteria and the students Gasp! as they realize that they’re out of luck for lunch today if they didn’t bring their own.
  • Suddenly Always Knew That: Oscar apparently knows how to fly a helicopter and uses that skill to airdrop lunches down to Freshwater High.
Bea: Oscar, I had no idea you could fly a helicopter!
Oscar: Yes, well, apparently I can!
  • This Is No Time to Panic: Bea tells everyone not to panic when they find out the cafeteria is closed. Of course, everyone then starts freaking out.
  • Toilet Humor: The episode starts with Mr. Baldwin saying, “And that, class, is what happens when you pull my finger” as he stands at the front of the class with a picture of a toilet on the blackboard behind him.
