There are no tropes in Minecraft!

"There must be fifty ways to-DIE IN MINECRAFT!"
"Fifty ways to- DIE IN MINECRAFT"

The first installment of the 50 Ways to Die in Minecraft series, as well as the debut of many of the series regulars, most notably jayRiott, Stu, and Redstone Ned.

Watch it here.

Ready? Sego!

  • A Molten Date with Death:
  • Bait-and-Switch: Many deaths work like this. One of the most notable is Death 47, which leads the viewer to believe Herobrine is going to kill a player (Stu) for writing "HEROBRINE SUX" in blocks, only for Herobrine to be killed by a random pig.
  • Bolt of Divine Retribution: Death 41 has a player get hit with this after writing "NOTCH SUX" in blocks.
  • Can't You Read the Sign?: Death 22 plays this straight when someone fails to heed the "Beware of Dogs" sign, but the very next death inverts this with someone (Norman298) who actually does stop to read the sign ("Readers will be shot").
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • There's much less dialogue in this episode than in later ones.
    • The thumbnail of the video is just an unedited pic from one of the video's deaths involving Redstone Ned. The thumbnails of the following episodes would be more unique, usually making a Visual Pun of the episode's number as a part of an image relating to death.
  • Forced Transformation: Death 4, "Using the Wrong Ingredients", has SabrinaTheNewAgeWitch drink a potion that turns her into a sheep, causing a hungry wolf to attack and kill her.
  • Running Gag: Redstone Ned is hit and killed by a vehicle of some sort. The first is in Death 18, when he is run over by a truck after saying "There are no trucks in Minecraft." In Death 29, Ned tries to avoid being hit by an incoming train by jumping off of railroad tracks, only for the train to fall out of the sky, squishing him. The final death of the video, "Hit by a Plane", shows Ned climbing into a Saftey Hole, thinking he's avoided the plane, only when he gets to the bottom, a plane rams into him and crashes. "Are you kidding me?"
    • Ned saying "There are no (blank) in Minecraft" and being killed by it went on to become the one of the series' most recognizable Running Gags.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Take That!: Death 13 has Restone Ned die upon watching the Star Wars holiday special.
  • Toilet Humor: Death 48 is "Missing the Toilet"… as in, falling from a great height and missing the toilet water that would've kept you from dying.
  • When Trees Attack: Downplayed example. In Death 15, the player is standing on top of a sapling right before it grows into a full tree, "eating" the player, hence the title: "Eaten By a Tree".
  • Zombie Apocalypse: The first death in the video (as well as the entire series), titled "Feeding the Hungry", shows a player being swarmed by a horde of zombies.
