How many Minireenas does it take to pilot a flesh suit?

For some reason, the doll didn't seem so cute anymore. He couldn't say why, but the thought of having it in his apartment was terrifying. He wasn't so crazy about having it here, either.

Stanley is a night guard at an old warehouse; he never sees anything, but his boss ominously tells him to make sure nothing gets out. His life outside of his job is falling apart: his girlfriend just dumped him, his apartment is a mess, and he has no idea what he's doing anymore. So one night, when a little doll appears on his desk and asks in a little voice to come home with him, he says yes. The doll, however, wants more than just a new home: oh, and there's also more than one.

The sixth Five Nights at Freddy's: Fazbear Frights story, and the second of the third book, 1:35 A.M. It was adapted into the graphic novel series in 2023.

Tropes related to “Room for One More”:

  • Abandoned Warehouse: Not exactly abandoned, but Stanley's job is completely empty while he's there.
  • Adaptational Dye-Job: In the novel, Stanley's nurse is described as being "blonde and motherly." In the graphic novel, she has gray hair.
  • Adorable Abomination: The Minireenas are Creepy Cute dolls that are very much bizarre.
  • Afraid of Doctors: Stanley refuses to go to a hospital, as he blames the doctors who took care of his cancer-ridden father for his dad's death. When he's barely able to function, he goes to a nurse, rather than a doctor.
  • And I Must Scream: A somewhat literal example; unable to move, the story ends with Stanley only able to scream in terror as another Minireena begins to force its way down his throat.
  • Beware the Cute Ones: The Minireenas look so sweet and pretty (at least if you ignore the Puppet-esque heads), like music box dancers. Given their relationship to the story, however, it's clear they're anything but.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Stanley's older sister Melissa still comes over to his place and takes care of him when he's ill.
  • Body Horror: Stanley discovers that Minireenas have been crawling inside his body as he sleeps, causing his arms and throat to swell painfully until ultimately he becomes totally immobile… allowing more Minireenas to crawl inside him.
  • Bubbly Waitress: Katie, who serves Stanley every morning. She's the first one to notice his state and suggest seeing a doctor.
  • Cool Uncle: Stanley's this to Melissa's kids. They think seeing him in his uniform is the coolest thing in the world.
  • Creepy Doll: Although Stanley initially describes them as cute, the Minireenas' appearance is a bit unsettling.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The Minireenas, who served as minor minions for Ballora in Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location.
  • Depraved Dentist: One of Stanley's dreams involve Ballora and the Minireenas strapping him to a dentist chair.
  • Deranged Taxi Driver: For some reason, in one of Stanley's nightmares, Funtime Foxy is his taxi driver.
  • Differing Priorities Breakup: Amber breaks up with Stanley because she wants marriage, and he doesn't feel ready for that step.
  • Downer Ending: There's very little chance that Stanley survived being stuffed with Minireenas.
  • Dreaming the Truth: As Stanley dreams about Ballora forcing his mouth open, he realizes what her dolls are doing to him and wakes up.
  • Dying Declaration of Love: When Stanley is convinced he's going to die, he writes a love letter to his ex-girlfriend, hoping to let her know that he really did love her.
  • Dying Dream: The dream of Ballora manages to wake Stanley up, just in time for the Minireenas to swarm.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Each night, Stanley is awoken upon the motion detectors going off, but sees nothing wrong. He then finds the doll on his desk, every night, and falls back asleep rather than question how the doll got there, or wonder if maybe whatever put it there was what set off the detectors. He then wakes up with a sorer throat. Repeat; but then again, who can blame him? Not like anyone's first thought is "the dolls are crawling inside of me."
  • Giggling Villain: The Minireenas often let out cute little giggles, even from inside Stanley.
  • Grand Theft Me: Seems to be the Minireenas' ultimate goal. They crawl inside of Stanley throughout the story, intending to use his body to escape the building.
  • Hope Spot: Right before his final dream, Stanley resolves to make his life better, by getting a new job, inviting his friends over, and maybe asking the Bubbly Waitress out.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The Minireenas look eerily humanlike in their body structure. And that their heads look like the Puppet's and that they crawl all over you like human spiders don't help things.
  • Mind Hive: Many of the Minireenas crawl inside of Stanley's body through his mouth, presumably with the goal of escaping.
  • Monster of the Week: The Minireenas.
  • Nightmare Sequence: A good chunk of the story is Stanley's nightmares while falling asleep on the job. Most of them involve characters from Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location.
  • No Full Name Given: For anyone in the short.
  • On the Rebound: Amber apparently very quickly began dating the manager of Snack Shack, despite breaking up with Stanley only two weeks prior to the story.
  • Orifice Invasion: The Minireenas enter Stanley's body by crawling down his throat. Apparently in a rough manner, as it leaves him with severe throat pain.
  • Parent with New Paramour: Stanley's mother has started dating after his father's death. He mentions that while he was at first concerned, he knows that her new boyfriend is a good guy and makes her happy.
  • Perverse Puppet: While their intentions are initially unclear, it's later revealed that they plan on using Stanley's body to escape, presumably killing him in the process.
  • Plagued by Nightmares: Once the Minireenas start clambering down his throat, Stanley begins having nightmares of the Sister Location characters.
  • Plot Parallel: The Minireenas crawling inside of Stanley is most likely meant to represent Ennard entering Michael Afton in Sister Location.
  • Post-Stress Overeating: After his breakup with Amber, Stanley gets a little pudgier. So he doesn't notice when the Minireenas start adding a bit more weight...
  • Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: The Minireenas have amber irises and have been shown to be quite the sneaky little creeps.
