Tropes:

  • Bestiality Is Depraved: Unheard by the audience, Scheherazade tells Nitocris the story of Wardan, the woman, and the bear.
  • Big Bad: Ishtar, who uses the race to create a Gugalanna Mk. II out of anger of everyone calling her a useless goddess during Babylonia for losing her connection to the original.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: While Ishtar is the one calling the shots for most of the event, Medb directly opposes her and the racers for constructing racing courses on her land without permission. And since she imprisons the racers in the process, they're forced into escaping her prison and eventually confronting her as well.
  • The Big Race: The main theme for this year's summer limited event, even when imprisoned in Medb's jail, Ishtar forces the teams to keep racing each other for the sake of entertainment.
  • Bland-Name Product: Medb wears "Gabrielle No. 5" to bed.note
  • Buxom Beauty Standard:
    • During Ishtar's rant, she mentions that Gilgamesh insulted her in her current form by comparing her chest to a washboard.
    • Ishtar herself tries to invoke this while trying to argue that Chaldea could benefit from Gugalanna despite its enormous size making it widely impractical for them to handle, claiming that "bigger is better", which backfires immediately since it just ends up irritating the smaller-chested Servants.
  • Call-Back:
    • When Nobunaga sees Mysterious Heroine X, she remembers the Assassin's very brief gag appearance in GUDAGUDA Meiji Revival and throws shade her way, to which the Assassin is indignant but also admits it was nice to see Mysterious Heroine X Alter enjoy herself on the food.
    • Tesla and Edison both argue that "this year" they'll settle who is the real king of barbecue and mention people have already seen Helena's School Swimsuit, referencing the "Meat Wars" CE from the previous summer event that sure enough depicts Helena in said swimsuit watching the two having a barbecue competition.
    • Boudica rants about how she willingly posed in last year's swimsuit photoshoot and hoped that it would get her a swimsuit version of her own (it didn't), referring to the "Shiny Goddess" CE of the first summer event. Also Nero states that the protagonist and Mash once met Boudica in this state, referencing the "Garden of Order" event.
    • In the second race which is located in a volcano, Sanzang states the area is just like the Flaming Mountains but is glad she doesn't need to get the Banana Fan or Excalibur, referencing the "Starry Xuanzang Goes to India" event.
    • When discussing assassinating Medb, Nero repeats she's an expert of assassinations due to be being on both sides of it as she did in the fifth Singularity, "North American Myth War".
    • Enkidu frees Gorgon from her imprisonment within Medb's jail after the warden's death, and when she asks why he admits a part of him just doesn't want to watch her waste away without freedom. This references the relationship Gorgon and Enkidu/Kingu have in Babylonia.
  • Cerebus Call-Back: Remember back in the Babylonia story when Ishtar got thoroughly humiliated for losing Gugalanna? Well, Ishtar didn't forget.
  • Clone Army: There are several Artemises living in the fourth arena called "Valley Artemis" looking for Orion who also has a number of fakes.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Medb conveniently has only six cells in her prison for the racers and throws each team without any separation into their own jail, allowing them to continue the race through their own escape tunnels. Blavatsky is more annoyed that this means she had to bunk with Edison and Tesla in her cell with no consideration for her privacy.
  • Debut Queue: As this event is split into two parts, each half introduces a different set of new Servants.
    • Part 1 introduces the swimsuit versions of Nero Claudius, Frankenstein, Nitocris, and Oda Nobunaga.
    • Part 2 introduces the swimsuit versions of Artoria Pendragon Alter Rider, Helena Blavatsky, and Minamoto no Yorimitsu. Swimsuit Ishtar is awarded as the welfare Servant for clearing Part 2.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Atalante lays land mines to protect her apple seeds; when the racers trigger the mines, the seeds are destroyed in the explosion.
    • It's pointed out this is an issue of Ishtar's. Sure, she successfully came up with a plan to recreate the ultra-strong Divine Beast Gugalanna and had it go off as planned (the bit with Medb notwithstanding), but she clearly didn't think through what to do with him once she actually finished assuaging her own ego or how Chaldea would even be able to properly use him (they point out using him to solve Singularities would be like using a bomb to clean away a ketchup stain). She's compared to someone who bets everything on a winning hand without considering it could come up a dud.
  • Doting Parent: Moriarty spends the event as one for Frankenstein just because she called him papa. Hilarious he's teamed up with her and Babbage.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • The Servants fought during the event are all landscape references to the surface of the planet Venus. It's later revealed that Ishtar has been invoking Venus throughout the entire race to strengthen her magical ritual.
    • When Medb catches up to the racers after the final race in the Death Jail Summer Escape, MHX reveals she made a cheese blaster to kill her so she doesn't have a chance to become a Saber. After Medb deflected it, MHX admits maybe Medb will be a swimsuit Saber next year, which is exactly what happened.
    • A partial one, when you fight Quetzacoatl and Medb during the main quest, Quetzatcoatl does not have an NP gauge. It is revealed that her offer to Yan Qing is to disguise himself as her and fight alongside Medb so Quetzacoatl can derail Ishtar's plan later on.
    • The joke about changing clothes also changing the Servant's class? This comes into play when you confront Ishtar at the end, who ditches her coat (and thus her seasonal Rider class) and faces you as her original Archer class.
  • Good All Along: Quetzatcoatl, who despite appearing as Medb's Vice-Warden knew about Ishtar's plan and aids the heroes in destroying Gugalanna Mk. II.
  • Heroic BSoD: Helena Blavatsky has a breakdown when Holmes insinuates that the protagonist thinks she's a liar. note
  • Never Trust a Trailer: It's about as indicative of what actually happens in the event as the last summer event's trailer was. Which is to say, only half.
  • Noodle Incident: It's never really explained how all the Orion copies were made besides Artemis' vague explanations with only mentioning of having "cuddled him too hard".
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Several servants such as Atalanta, Boudica, Penthesilea, and Artemis are acting strangely in each rounds of the race. Atalanta outright states after she's beaten she was asked to act this way.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The third race has the contestants be judged by beauty as organized by Ishtar. The judges are Blackbeard wearing one of Edison's modified Cabbage robot armors and Da Vinci wearing a mask, no one is fooled.
  • Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: Nearly every team either uses loopholes in the rules or flat out violates them through their team compositions alone, but Ishtar allows it, deciding it would make the race more interesting. She's less forgiving when an infraction would disrupt the ritual the race is powering, however.
  • Shower Scene: Medb as the inmates are trying to assassinate her.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Penthesilea seems to actually think beauty is a curse. During her section of the race, she actually thinks that she's growing more and more beautiful by the minute and hates it.
  • Suddenly Voiced: As a result of Fran changing from Berserker to Saber, she can now talk.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Nero's insistence that she won the chariot race "with no deceitful skulduggery of any kind."
  • Sympathy for the Devil: While the racers in general are laughing at how Medb died in life, Ishtar is sympathetic for Medb because of just how embarrassing it was.
  • Technology Porn: There's an entire cutscene in the race's third round dedicated to talking about how awesome the vehicles are.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Okita, Hijikata and Chacha aren't happy about Nobunaga spending their money for a swimsuit for herself to participate in the upcoming summer event. Okita is doubly unhappy that the "welfare" got a swimsuit version before she did.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Medb's weakness is cheese. Nobunaga is rolling on the ground laughing while Artoria Alter's sprite is shaking when they learn about it. Subverted, however as she has trained herself to counter her weakness.
  • Withholding Their Name: James Moriarty, Penthesilea, Scheherazade, Hessian Lobo, and Yan Qing's true names aren't revealed in this event to avoid spoiling players who haven't gotten to the reveals in Epic of Remnant. So Moriarty is referred to as Professor M, Penthesilea is referred to as Queen Proud of Her Abs, Scheherazade uses her gameplay alias, Hessian Lobo is referred to as "Deadly On-Site Groundskeeper: Officer D.O.G.," and Yan Qing is referred to as Phantom of Infinite Faces.
