An Aesop: If you can't let go of your past, you can ruin your future.
The Bad Guy Wins: Shuriki's group retrieves all three pieces of the Scepter of Night, allowing Shuriki to use magic again.
Batman Gambit: Shuriki figured out Elena's usage of "Blaze" with the Scepter of Light tires her out, so she gets Elena to waste her energy until she's too weak to pursue her.
Bittersweet Ending: While more bitter than sweet, it still qualifies. The group loses all three pieces of the Scepter of Night to Shuriki's group, allowing Shuriki to use magic again. In addition, Elena fails to resolve her PTSD and anger towards Shuriki, Shuriki's group adds Troyo, Cruz, and Vestia, and Victor and Carla are now malvagos. However, the sweet element comes from Quita Moz coming in and telling Elena about how there is a solution to this (mastering the Scepter Of Light), which at least helps to restore her confidence, and they go off to someone who can help.
Missing Mom: After she and her father are turned into malvagos, Carla comments "If only mama could see us now!".
Retcon: Since the royal castle's design is different from how it appeared in Elena and the Secret of Avalor, Elena instead went out to the balcony to wave at her parents before Shuriki killed them as opposed to running out to meet them.
Transformation Sequence: Victor and Carla have an impressive one when Fiero turns them into malvagos.
Trigger: Throughout the episode, Elena suffers from flashbacks to when she saw Shuriki kill her parents.
We Wait: Fiero tells Shuriki she needs to master the Scepter first. With Elena beaten and still in Vallestrella, they have nothing but time.
Wham Episode: Shuriki fully assembles the Scepter of Night, and Victor and Carla become malvagos.
