Chapter 26: Plan B: Part 2

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Analogy Backfire: When Julieta grounds Mirabel and Hiccup, Hiccup retorts that she can't ground him because she isn't his mother. She then retorts that he gave her that right when he started calling her "mom".
  • The Chosen People: "Thor" claims that Berk is under his protection due to his "kin's" association with him, making the Berserkers believe that they would invite the wrath of Asgard if they tried to invade them.
  • The Dog Bites Back: When Dagur tries making his troops fight Thor just to satisfy his fragile ego, this is The Last Straw for Savage and the rest of the Berserkers, who rebuke him and leave Dagur to face the Madrigals by himself.
  • Fearless Fool: Dagur is so hellbent of getting a victory, he was willing to send his entire tribe to their deaths in what would have been a Curb-Stomp Battle against Thor, unaware until the jig is up that it was an elaborate trick.
  • God Guise: Using a portrait of Hiccup's ancestor, Camilo's shapeshifting powers, Pepa's Weather Manipulation and tremors via Luisa's Super-Strength, the Madrigals manage to scare off Dagur's armada by making them think that Berk was under Thor's protection.
  • Shout-Out: Camilo's Thor disguise relies on an old portrait of Hiccup's great-great grandfather, making him a blonde with an axe instead of a hammer, making him resemble Thor from the MCU than the actual Norse God.
  • Unwanted False Faith: By the end, Mirabel flat-out tells Dagur that they aren't demigods and that they only went along with that story because they hoped it would have been enough to keep ambitious psychos like him away. Dagur just takes this as another lie at his expense.
