This chapter includes examples of:

  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Grams seems to run on this since Graht is wanting to take over Origa's position by any means necessary including the Dawnshard and Harle intends to take the Dawnshard for himself.
  • Holy City: Grams is a large one to the North of Alberia, and ruled as a theocracy by the Ilian Church with their royal family being figureheads.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: For all of their power, Grams must not be too informed about how the war in Alberia is. They know the Prince of Alberia singlehandedly defeated Morsayati, but it was Beren and not Euden who did it.
  • The Man Behind the Man: This chapter implies that while Graht may answer to Auspex Origa, he's Harle's superior, making him responsible for damn near everything that happened in the Empire. The Interlude confirms it that he did outright send Harle to sow distrust between the Conservatives and Perditionists, as well as turn the Alberian Kingdom into the Dyrenell Empire.
  • The Mole: Nevin and Sandalphon discuss the strong likelihood of a traitor among them upon concluding that the sealing stone was never locked away in the vault to begin with and seem to have an idea on who it is based on Nevin saying that Pinon will be heartbroken.
  • More Dakka: Chelle reveals her secret manacaster project: an Impossibly-Compact Folding Chainsaw Grip BFG Retractable Weapon to turn a gate into scrap metal.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: While Volk may have saved the party from the Templars, it's because he sees Ranzal as his prey alone and nobody's going to kill him but himself.
  • Super-Persistent Predator: Volk has followed the party all the way out to North Grastaea.
