Patreon E1: "Patreon Palava!"

Air Date: 3/9/18

A Patron with tons of commissions and fellow mad scientist, Professor Merry, drops by the castle to check on their progress. She also ropes Crafty into her strange fanfiction involving him and her colleague. The lucky patron of this episode is Heartzmd.

Tropes Found in This Episode:

• No Fourth Wall: When one of Merry's commissions turns out to involve Mr. Blobby, Crafty repeatedly tries to cut to the credits to end the episode—and when that doesn't work, he starts cutting to the credits of other media. Eventually, the editor (Alex As Himself), has to stop the gag due to the exhausting editing.
• Rule of Three: Crafty uses his d20 die to summon three different Dragon-type Pokémon, first summoning a Mega-Charizard X for a Lame Pun Reaction against Merry, then summoning a Garchomp to chase away Disgustilda, and finally summoning a Hydreigon for a Lame Pun Reaction against himself.

For this bonus episode, Crafty and Nurse draw Zatanna and discuss the inner workings and surrounding culture of stage magic. The lucky patron of this episode is clockwerksoul.

Tropes Found in This Episode:

• Bait-and-Switch: Crafty tosses a My Little Pony plushie at Linkara. The one he tosses is Pinkie Pie, but Linkara somehow ends up with Sunset Shimmer. Crafty's answer is remarkably flippant:
  Crafty: It's magic. I don't have to explain it!
  Linkara: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
• The Cameo: Linkara, who Crafty drew title cards for at the time of this episode's upload, makes an appearance. He's summoned to explain the basic history of Zatanna, though Crafty stops him before he starts reviewing her debut comic.
• Lemony Narrator: The episode opens with a narrator, who tries discussing Crafty's antics in the style of Breaking the Magician's Code until Crafty sends him away.
• Shared Universe: Thanks to Linkara's cameo, Dr. Crafty is now officially confirmed as part of the Reviewaverse. This gets followed up in both of their respective series, with Dr. Crafty making a cameo during Linkara's review of Franken Fran chapters 1 & 4, and Linkara and Pollo both appearing when Dr. Crafty steals Neutro from them with Iida's help in the Season 3 finale.
