Recap / Donkey Kong Island S 1 E 8 The Office Party

Go To

K. Rool's father has entrusted him with organizing the annual K. Rool Incorporated Office party in his warehouse. K. Rool does everything in his power to make sure the party is a success and gain his father's approval.

Tropes

  • Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Chunky and almost every other attendant of the party after DK gives everyone alcohol.
  • Big Brother Bully: Kennedy treats K. Rool rather horribly, always trying to make him look bad in front of their father.
  • Big Eater: Klump ate all of the food in the party.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: K. Ringe seems to be very absent-minded most of the time.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Krusha, who often threatens Diddy if he ever even approaches Dixie. Never mind the fact that Dixie broke up with Krusha months ago.
  • Disgusting Vegetarian Food: K. Rool feels this way about the vegan wheat crackers Chunky had bought for the office party. K. Rool tells him to buy potato chips instead.
  • Emasculated Cuckold: K. Ross beats up Lanky after his subordintes tell him that he had hooked up with his wife Kelly.
  • Entitled to Have You: Krusha towards Dixie after she politely declines his advances.
  • The Food Poisoning Incident:
  • The Ghost: Kayden Rool, Kennedy's son, is said to be at the business party, and Dixie also mentions having talked to him, but he never shows up on-screen.
  • Gold Digger: Tiny hooked up with K. Ringe after finding out the amount of money he had in his bank account.
  • Jerkass: Kennedy does nothing but belittle K. Rool and humiliate him in front of their father. It becomes rather amusing when Krusha vomits on him.
  • The Killjoy: Harold. K. Rool is described as this. DK says that during one of his visits to the warehouse he made everyone work in absolute silenece. This is later subverted as when the Kongs turn the office party around, Harold is impressed by it and actually compliments K. Rool for once. He admits that he dislikes the blandness of the annual office parties as much as his son does.
  • Noodle Incident: What kind of e-mails did K. Rool "accidentally" leak regarding his father?
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: K. Rool tells his father that the Thanksgiving Dinner they had at Kirk's office the previous year was terrible. His father then tells him that he was the one who cooked it. K. Rool quickly corrects himself.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Konnor and Kennedy. Konnor tries to impress his father, but Kennedy always manages to discredit all of Konnor's actions.
  • Shout-Out: While drunk, K. Ringe says "What seems to be the officer, problem?"
  • Skewed Priorities:
    • One of Harold's employees informs him about a fire on the fifth floor of their building. Harold tells him to leave him alone because he is on the phone.
    • Klump was supposed to send e-mails to K. Rool's family regarding the office party. He decided it would be best to make himself an omelette first and ended up forgetting about the e-mails.
  • Something about a Rose: Krusha gives Dixie a rose in an attempt of getting her back. He apparently took it from someone else's garden without permission.
  • Straw Critic: K. Rool's father thinks the party looks unprofessional just because a window had been left open. According to K. Rool, he also complained about a Disabled Parking Sign spoiling his view.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Klump somehow makes something blow up while on his way to send K. Rool's family e-mails.
  • Take That!: "You're about as effective as blocking someone on Discord!"
  • Too Much Information: Klump asks K. Rool's family if they want to see the tattoo he has on his left asscheek. Kelly tells him that they're good.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Krusha when all the alcohol he drank makes him puke all over Dixie and Kennedy.
  • Watch the Paint Job: DK and his friends accidentally crack Krusha's car's windshield in the intro.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: K. Rool's objective is to impress his father.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Klump's food posioning from eating rotten apples is forgotten rather quickly and nothing comes out of it.
  • You Need to Get Laid: Dixie tells 32-year old Klump to "start a family or something" after he says that he went to a high school frat party.
