A Plot

The next day, Craig gapes at his huge chest bruises in the mirror. Despite the pain, he still has to go to school. His father drives him and before he gets out the car, Craig's dad hands him a wad of cash. The cash is for a new camera. He asks Craig if he has any hard feelings about the day before, and Craig says no. Inside, Craig gazes at his ripped up album and bumps into Emma. Craig apologizes about the party and asks if Joey said anything about him. Emma says that she did hear, but didn't mean to eavesdrop. She tells him she's picking up Angie after school and invites Craig along.

At Angie's preschool, Angie is excited to see Craig and asks to go to the park. Emma says she has homework to do, and Craig volunteers to take her to the park and drop her off when they're done. Emma says yes, just for a little bit. At the park, Angie and Craig have fun roughhousing, and Angie accidentally presses against Craig's bruises. Angie asks how he got them and Craig says it was from a dinosaur. Then he gets an idea. He has an idea to get away from all the dinosaurs...Later, Emma's doing her homework and Joey drives up - after closing up shop early. He asks just where Angie is and Emma sheepishly tells him she with Craig at the park. Joey is mad and Emma tells him it's only fair: he's her brother. Joey tells her that she's just the babysitter and to leave the parenting to him. He drives off.

Craig and Angela are at an ice cream truck. Craig pulls out the wad of cash to pay for their cones and Angie admires it and asks if it's a million dollars. Craig says it's a lot, but not that much. But enough to get them to British Columbia. He says it's just a bus ride away...but just then Joey comes up. Uh oh. Joey asks them why they aren't at the park and Craig says Angie got hungry. Joey takes Angie and Angie turns around and asks Craig if Daddy can come to B.C. too. Oh, Crap!. Craig lies and says it was pretend but Angie grabs the wad of cash Craig has. Joey grabs Angie and tells Craig to stay away from Angie.

Craig's house. Craig's dad comes in from work and asks him why he's home early. Craig says it's nothing, and Craig's dad says for him to take it easy. He tells him it's going to be a fun night, he brought Chinese food and videos. Just then the phone rings...it's Joey. Craig's eyes widen and he runs out the kitchen and up the stairs while his dad is on the phone. He runs into his room, and locks the door. He pulls out his phone and dials up Sean while throwing clothes in a bag. He asks if he has plans, frantically. Craig's father's knocks on the door. They have to talk. Craig ignores him and wraps up his conversation with Sean about rendezvousing. Craig's dad yells at Craig to open the door, this is HIS HOUSE. He takes the golf club and slams it into the door. Craig is terrified. He's really going to hurt him. He makes his escape out the window.

Sean and Craig meet up, and they hang out at the train-yard. They walk along the track, and Craig talks about his dad. His dad is a surgeon and has a stressful job...so they fight. He says that he's thinking about running away to British Columbia. Sean tells him he'll end up on the street. Craig pleads for Sean to join him but Sean tells him he can't just leave. Sean asks if his dad hits him. Craig is stoned-faced. Just then, a horn blares. A train is coming...and Craig stays on the tracks. Sean tries to pull him off Craig pushes him down. The train approaches closer, and Sean finally makes a dive and saves Craig's life. Craig laughs like a maniac and Sean asks what the hell is wrong with him. Craig runs away, leaving his bag with Sean.

Later, at Joey's house Emma and Sean come running in for Joey's help. It's about Craig. He's going to B.C., and he's going to end up on the streets or dead. Sean says that he personally witnessed Craig playing Chicken on the railroad tracks. Joey says there's nothing he can really do, and to just call Craig's dad. Emma says Craig's dad is the problem. Sean says that his father hits him. Joey says they can't make accusations like that but then Angie perks up about how she saw Craig's bruises at the park. She tells him a dinosaur hurts him. Joey breathes in, and tells Emma to watch Angie while he and Sean start the hunt for Craig. While they search, Emma picks through Craig's family album at home and sees Julia Jeremiah's headstone. She knows where Craig is. She phones Joey with her speculation. Sure enough, Craig's there. He's sitting there crying and Joey and Sean come up. Joey calls out to Craig and asks what's wrong? Craig is defensive and says he's fine but Joey mentions the train. Craig is pissed and calls Sean a liar. He yells that he can't go with Joey or back home or his dad will...will...Joey asks him just what his dad does. Craig clams up and Joey asks Craig if his dad hits him. Craig cries and admits that his dad does hit him. He embraces Joey, and breaks down into tears.

The next day, Craig and Joey drive up to his house. Craig wants to go in alone and Joey tells him to go in, get his things and say as little as possible. Craig starts to knock on the door but Craig's dad gets there first and opens it. He and his dad have an awkward stare off before Craig heads in. Craig's dad pleads for him to stay, they'll work this out, they'll talk it through. He says that Craig's breaking his heart, just like his mother. He's just stressed, he loves him. Craig tells him he has three options: Go to Children's Aid, or go with Joey while they sort this out, or he can stay with his dad and get beaten. Craig's dad says that he doesn't beat him. Craig rolls his eyes and gets his stuff. He hops in Joey's car and they drive off, leaving his dad standing in the yard wistfully.

B Plot

Paige approaches JT in the lunchroom apologetic about yesterday. She invites him to the movies and dinner - his treat. JT is elated, Toby is in Stunned Silence. After school, JT is waiting for Paige outside the movies and Paige arrives — decked out in a hoodie and sunglasses. JT has a trinket for their date, and Paige just wants to get it over with already. After the movie, Paige and JT are sitting down for dinner. JT shared a pretty lame joke with her ("What's a cheerleader's favorite drink? Root beer!") and Paige isn't impressed. She gives JT a joke of her own about North Park's cheerleaders. JT snorts and Paige laughs. But then Spinner and Hazel make their presence known. Hazel thinks Paige is actually having fun on her date and gives her the money. JT is shocked.

The next day, Paige walks up to JT and says that she feels guilty about last night. JT doesn't buy it but Paige says that JT is a good date. And if he wasn't short and unpopular, she's go out with him in a heartbeat. JT "thanks" her, and he says that he'd imagine his first date ending in a kiss. Paige says no way, and JT says that she'll be making his dreams come true. Paige sighs and kisses him on the cheek and JT hands off the teddy bear that she left behind.
