"...eeny... meeny... miny... moe?"

The story starts with a nurse "taking care" of two babies. A second more-experienced nurse notices the babies have their wristbands off. The first nurse assures she knows to which baby each correspond. After she is left alone and a quick "eeny, meeny, miny, moe"... A twist of fate is set in motion.

After the opening credits, the first introduction to pregnant-Mariana is of her walking down a hall arguing with a professor. She wants to take up her exams which she had missed to take because she had attended a women's protest and for her, that should be a valid reason. The professor counters that if she wants to be a mathematician she cannot skip more classes than allowed.

As the professor leaves, Elena appears behind her to make a remark against him labeling as an oppressive macho. Mariana barely gets a moment to reply since she has just gotten intense contractions.

At the same time, somewhere not far away a businesswoman is shown leading a multicultural group in a factory. Ana is visibly ly pregnant and her assistant promptly points out she's leaking.

Mariana, dealing with her imminent delivery calls her mother, Tere, to make sure everything is ready for her home delivery. She makes emphatic point she's not to call Pablo.

Despite Mariana's wishes, Tere is talking over the phone with Pablo who insists that Mariana doesn't want to see him or will let him see the baby. Tere suggests he better avoid showing up while she's in labor.

Juan Carlos and his children arrive at the hospital but much to their surprise Ana is not there. Still stuck in a jam, the driver, Ramon, manages to take Ana to the closest hospital driving over the sidewalk to avoid the traffic. Meanwhile Mariana is trying deliver in the tub set at home while having a videocall with her grandmother who is pulled over by the police for driving. Mariana is on the verge of a breakdown and demands to be taken to a hospital.

As fate would have it, Ana and Mariana end up sharing room. Ana is still trying to work her way in a videoconference with her clients while Mariana is loudly pushing on the contiguous bed.

Mariana asks for Valentina to be brought to her, insisting she can't be away from her since skin to skin contact and feeding her is vital for their bonding.

Ana for her part is visibly worried about getting the perfect family picture. She doesn't seem to mind much that her makeup does get ruined when she gets fuzzy feelings looking at her daughter.

Ana vows to be the best mother for Regina. Mariana makes the same vow to Valentina.

Ana and Mariana have another feud when talking to the nurse station. When they leave the hospital, both are happy they will never see the other ever again.

4 months after the babies were born the mix up is discovered they each receive calls from the hospital.Mariana and Tere show up at Ana's house to make the exchange of babies. The lawyer suggests for the non-biological families to break contact with the babies so they can be able to bind with their biological family.

Ana suggests adopting Regina and taking care of both which causes more turmoil. Heartbroken, they both end up exchanging the babies, and Mariana and Tere leave with Regina.

Mariana tries to breastfeed Regina unsuccessfully. Ana can't get Valentina to use the bottle.

Unable to give their babies what they need, Ana and Mariana meet late at night in Ana's car. They switch babies. Ana glows up and Valentina immediately stops crying as soon a she latches onto Mariana's breast.

Desperate moments call for desperate measures. Ana offers Mariana to move to her house. Mariana thinks that's nuts.

  • Death Glare: Mariana swears at her mother when she finds Pablo outside their home.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: Juan Carlos tells that about Regina's eyes to Ana. Tere 'also' says the same about Valentina to Pablo. Out of habit or kindness because they are not their biological daughters.
  • Heads or Tails?: Both Ana and Mariana know that the plan to move in together is crazy. Yet, the decision whether to do it or not is left to a rock-paper-scissors game.
  • Identity Breakdown: Ana is in an identity crisis because she's not the mother of the girl she thought was her daughter. And she also doesn't feel the mother of her biological child because she doesn't know her.
  • I Don't Like You And You Don't Like Me: In the car before Ana brings up her crazy plan.
Ana: Look child, I won't lie, I don't like you at all. Or the way you dress. And you could have a better haircut.
Mariana: Well, I don't like you either. And you could use some manners. Though I don't know who's worse your or my mom, seriously.
  • Interchangeable Asian Cultures: To distract her clients that her water just broke, Ana claims that someone spilled water on the floor but it's okay because is good for Feng Shuai.
  • New Media Are Evil: Ana blames the navigation app is the one that made them take a longer route so she couldn't have her baby in their preferred hospital.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Ana and Mariana cannot believe their (bad?) luck when they meet again at the hospital's office.
  • Read the Freaking Manual: People usually don't come with a manual. Ana's daughter Regina, does. (Mariana didn't read it though.)

Mariana: If we all had a boob on hand the world would be a better place.
  • The B Grade: After delivery, Ana is flabbergasted the apgar score of her baby was not perfect.
