Namaste!

South Asia is the fourth region investigated in Criminal Case: World Edition.

Encompassing the countries of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the Tibet region in China, South Asia, at first, focuses on the Bureau providing as much help as they can regarding a series of disasters that have been afflicting the region ever since an earthquake struck India, including a tsunami and a virus outbreak. Once that's settled, the region shifts its focus towards investigating a mysterious guru that might or might not be evil and his connections to O.M. MediLab, a pharmaceutical company performing unethical and outright illegal activities in the shadows.

    Cases Set in South Asia
  1. Bad Medicine: A NGO worker is given a lethal dose of morphine in the destroyed ruins of New Delhi.
  2. Treacherous Waters: A local cop is shot in the chest at a flooded museum in Mumbai.
  3. Plagued by Death: A student is injected with a lethal virus, causing a pandemic outbreak in Bangalore.
  4. Bloodywood: An actress is beaten to death inside of a movie set in Bollywood.
  5. Peace and Dead Quiet: A monk has his arm chopped off near a monastery in Bhutan.
  6. Insides Out: A tuk-tuk driver is disemboweled on a village square in Tibet.

Tropes:

  • Arc Villain: Warren Goodfellow, a SOMBRA agent who has been posing as a NGO worker providing help for the disaster-afflicted parts of the region while stealing charity money and giving it to SOMBRA, all while framing the innocent guru Om Padmasana for his misdeeds by painting him as the one behind O.M. MediLab.
  • Breather Episode: While the previous three regions had much darker and high-stakes plots that involved mass terrorism, assassins and extremist rebels, and world-ending satellites, South Asia instead focuses on a lighter storyline that deals with helping people in need amidst of a natural disaster for the first half, and investigating a mysterious but silly guru that turns out to be Good All Along for the second half, with the Arc Villain of the region only making itself clear until the final case (whereas you had the Promethians, The Sword, and the COSMORUS mole on your radar from pretty much the start and until the last case of the arc), making of South Asia a breath of fresh air after all you've been through.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Lars has a strong amount of focus in this region, where he has to deal with almost dying due to a virus, becoming indoctrinated with the guru's teachings, and getting a Love Epiphany about how much he loves his family after all he's put through.
  • Evil, Inc.: The second half of the region focuses on the Bureau tracking down O.M. MediLab, an unethical pharmaceutical company that has been behind illegal experimental drugs, virus outbreaks, and a Fake Charity to steal money from honest people, as well as their possible connections to Om Padmasana, who seems to be behind the whole ordeal.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: While the first half of South Asia has the Bureau helping people in need during earthquakes, tsunamis, and virus outbreaks, the second half switches focus to a more serial stoyline involving the investigation of O.M. MediLab and guru Om Padmasana.
  • Natural Disaster Cascade: The first half of South Asia focuses on the Bureau traveling all over India to help with rescues and aid amidst of an earthquake and a tsunami inundation, as well as finding a cure for a recent virus outbreak.
  • Recurring Character: The main recurring characters for South Asia are Om Padmasana, Warren Goodfellow, Sandeep Sadhra, Averly Worthington, Sanjay Korrapati, and Arsha Raju.
  • Returning Big Bad: After apparently being inactive since Eurasia, SOMBRA is revealed to be behind the whole O.M. MediLab fiasco, with one of their agents being put in charge of stealing money for them and framing someone else for their misdeeds.
