A great deal of Innocence Lost awaits you.

East Asia is the fifth region investigated in Criminal Case: World Edition.

Encompassing the countries of China, South Korea, and Japan, East Asia focuses on the Bureau investigating a wave of orphaned children disappearing all over the region and its eventual connections with SOMBRA, who seems to be recruiting said children to put them on a Deadly Game where only one person can survive.

    Cases Set in East Asia
  1. The Killer in the Rice: A teenager has his throat slashed with a sickle on a rice field in Yunnan, China.
  2. Dead in the Water: An adoption agent has her head smashed with a vase near a river in Sichuan, China.
  3. A Twist of Fate: A gang leader is suffocated with a plastic bag on the Great Wall in Beijing, China.
  4. Oh! Crazy Kill!: A TV producer is stabbed with an ice pick on a TV show set in Seoul, South Korea.
  5. A Death Wish: A yakuza leader is shot in the head at an arcade center in Tokyo, Japan.
  6. The Murder Games: A teenager is shot in the back with a crossbow in the Island of Kyushu, Japan.

Tropes:

  • Arc Villain: Both Ronin Ozawa and Obaasan serve as the main antagonists of the district, the former being "The Head Hunter" responsible for kidnapping and training children for SOMBRA all over the region and the latter the one in charge of Brainwashing and putting them into a Deadly Game so they can kill each other. Interestingly, they appear to be working independently of each other despite both of them being allied with SOMBRA, making them a Big Bad Ensemble instead of the expected Big Bad Duumvirate.
  • Arc Words: "The weak die" or some variation of said phrase is said by multiple characters throughout the region, which turns out to be a Madness Mantra of the victims that have been brainwashed by SOMBRA.
  • Darker and Edgier: Hell yes. While there have been much higher stakes in previous regions, the premise of East Asia instead evokes tons of fear that is bound to make more than one player's skin crawl with its tone, which basically involves orphaned children being kidnapped and trained by the Yakuza so they can be delivered to a Nebulous Evil Organization, brainwashed, and put on a Deadly Game so they can kill each other until only one of them remains. It's no surprise that many consider East Asia's plot to be one of the darkest in the entirety of Criminal Case.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Angela, who as a mother of three has her inner fears explored in this region due to involving children being in danger. It doesn't help that her daughters are accompanying the Bureau throughout East Asia, making her even more paranoid about their safety until the end of the arc.
  • Deadly Game:: A Battle Royale-esque one is revealed to be the reason for SOMBRA kidnapping children, as they're forcing them to kill each other to see who's the strongest.
  • Innocence Lost: The region deals with children having their innocence stripped away by SOMBRA due to trying to convert them into Child Soldiers. Even the Additional Investigation of East Asia is appropriately named "Innocence Lost".
  • Recurring Character: The main recurring characters for East Asia are Obaasan, Ronin Ozawa, Sanjay Korrapati, Tsukada Chieko, and SILVERee.
  • Rescue Arc: In a sense, as most of the region focuses on tracking down and rescuing orphans that have gone missing all over Asia before they can be brainwashed and put on a Deadly Game.
