Obey.

Amy and the player go to the Ivywood Awards Theater to stop the Utopians from mass brainwashing everyone watching the show, where they find the body of movie producer and awards show organizer Tyler Snakes poisoned on the red carpet.

Tropes:

  • Alliterative Name: Russell's deceased mother, Caroline Crane.
  • Back for the Finale: Trevor Neuman, Brett Nolan, Velma Bannister, Jupiter Crane, and Holly Hooper all reappear as suspects in this case, which is the last one set in Ivywood Hills.
  • Bungled Hypnotism: When trying to revert the effects of the brainwashing video, Hannah accidentally creates a tape that makes the affected person walk backwards.
  • The Climax: For Ivywood Hills.
  • Continuity Nod: One of the killer's traits is that they've watched A Puff of Death, the crime movie featured in Case 34.
  • Cult Colony: The Utopian temple and headquarters appears as a crime scene.
  • Darkest Hour: During the Additional Investigation, everyone in the team except for Russell, Hannah, and the player become brainwashed after the Utopian video gets broadcast, with a good chunk of the population also falling for the mass brain control of the Utopians until you manage to create a cure.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Russell becomes your partner during the second half of the case after Amy falls victim of the Utopian's brainwashing.
  • Faking the Dead: Holly Hooper reappears after supposedly committing suicide in the previous case, revealing she just faked it with the help of make-up and friends disguised as paramedics since she needed to lay low for a while after being exposed as the leader of the Utopians.
  • Felony Misdemeanor:
    • Parodied when Amy arrests Holly "for coming back from the dead" after you find out she didn't actually commit suicide.
    • During Velma's trial, Judge Dante sentences her 18 years in prison for killing Tyler and because she made everyone miss the Film Awards.
  • Flowery Insults: Russell calls Frank a "bumbling buffoon" after he reveals he hid important information about Velma from the player.
  • Good Parents: During the Additional Investigation, we find out that Jupiter never wanted to neglect Russell and always tried to reach out for him by sending letters, but Holly didn't want Utopians communicating with their non-Utopian families, so she made sure those letters never reached Russell. At the end of the case, you discover said letters, which helps Jupiter and Russell make up with each other and become a family once again.
  • It's All About Me: Velma killed Tyler after he gave her access to the TV room where the Utopian brainwashing video would be broadcast, since she wanted to broadcast her own video so everyone would worship only her instead of the Utopians.
  • It's Personal: After the Utopians brainwash Amy, Russell becomes more decided than ever in bringing them down for good.
  • Mass Hypnosis: The Utopians manage to mass brainwash everyone during the Additional Investigation, leaving Russell, Hannah, and the player on a race to create a cure and save Pacific Bay.
  • The Prophecy: The Utopians believe that God will come back to Earth and bring back the dead with Him once enough people have joined the cult, hence the mass brainwashing plan to get enough followers, although Holly clearly doesn't believe in it and just wants to control Pacific Bay.
Trevor: Happiness shall fill the heart of every man, woman, and child! God shall return to Earth with all the departed souls!
Amy: The departed souls? You mean dead people will live again?
Trevor: It's written in the stars! But there's a small glitch: we need to gain 8,754,899 more Utopian followers by midnight. That's the exact number needed to please the Guiding Light.
  • Psycho Psychologist: Doctor Trevor Neuman reveals himself as the creator of the brainwashing video, though he admittedly thinks the Utopian's brainwashing is a good thing for fulfilling The Prophecy.
  • Sarcasm Mode: When Hannah tells you she found a text message on the victim's phone, Amy sarcastically responds how surprising that is before Hannah angrily tells her said message came from Holly's phone, who was supposed to be dead.
  • Seeks Another's Resurrection: One of the reasons why Jupiter continues being an Utopian is because he wants to bring his deceased wife back to life and have a happy family again.
Jupiter: I pray the Utopians succeed with their plan, <Player's Name>! It's my only hope to get my family back!
Caroline will come back to me! And Russell will love me again! He'll see I was right about the Utopians all along: it's a beautiful religion of hope!
  • Shout-Out: The Ivywood Film Awards are a parody of the Hollywood Film Awards.
  • The Starscream:
    • Tyler tried to become the new leader of the Utopians after Holly made him deputy during her absence.
    • There's also Velma, who killed Tyler because she wanted to air her own brainwashing video so people would worship her instead of the Utopians.
  • Tainted Tobacco: The victim was killed with a poisoned cigarette.
  • Take Over the City: The Utopians momentarily manage to do this after they mass brainwash everyone watching the Awards Show, which was Holly's plan all along instead of fulfilling The Prophecy.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Holly gets one after you and Russell manage to reverse the effects of the brainwash video and save Pacific Bay.
  • Western Zodiac: One of the killer's traits is that they're a Capricorn.
  • Who Would Want to Watch Us?: During the Additional Investigation, Brett reveals he's working on a movie about the Pacific Bay Police Department fighting the Utopians, which makes Frank wonder if it would even succeed.
