- Cannonball and Scoot go too fast and cause a dimensional rip which releases the Speed Demon.
- Offscreen Moment of Awesome: The kids' battle with the Speed Demon. They just disappear, then they're back. One of them lost his eyes, grew them back, lost them again, and got new robot eyes.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: The Speed Demon, who's freed when the kids recklessly go too fast in their race.
- Shout-Out: The Speed Demon shouts that he's fast and furious. Another nod to the franchise is when Mariah says "For Family".
- Year Inside, Hour Outside: Bizarrely, the dimension all the kids go to took them over 80 years to beat the Speed Demon over 200mph that Cannonball made an entire family without aging himself (one of his kids is a jerk, though), all happening in the span of 10 seconds.
