Craig is smeckledorfed into accompanying Bernard for a tour of Herkleton University, but it's not a complete loss as he finds Kenneth and chases him across the campus.

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: To Craig's dismay, Kenneth admits that he has no idea where the remaining cube pieces are or how to find them.
  • And Then What?: Bernard picks apart Craig's idea of living in the creek by asking if his friends will join him rather than growing up and living their own lives.
  • Bait-and-Switch: After bumping into a tiger mascot and band geek, Craig tells him to move his "big furry butt". Of the two, the band geek looks at his behind out of concern.
  • Battle Discretion Shot: The camera focuses on the outside of the parked Williams Family Van as Craig tears apart Bernard for lying to him.
  • Chase Scene: Craig chases after Kenneth who can't hear him because of his music while Bernard chases after his little brother.
  • Emotional Regression: Bernard imagines himself as a little kid as the pressure of taking a college test becomes too much for him.
  • Equivalent Exchange: In the anime show, Haru had to give up his memories of his friends in order to resurrect the Heart of the Forest. In real life, Kenneth mentioned that he found his own heart but had to give up something he still misses in the present day.
  • Foreshadowing: After the rough experience he had at college, Bernard begins to think about the creek...
  • Gilligan Cut: Wanting to learn more about the Heart of the Forest, Craig vows not to leave his room until he gets his answers. But then he leaves after Bernard tells him to get ready for the "ice cream convention".
  • Hourglass Plot: At the beginning of the episode, Bernard is eager to go to college, while Craig is against it. By the end, Craig thinks going to college might be fun, while Bernard is having second thoughts.
  • I Lied: Bernard fooled Craig into thinking that he was taking him to an ice cream convention when in reality he wanted to bring him to a Herkleton University campus tour.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Bernard is the only one who enjoys the campus tour which is filled with pointless university trivia. Even the tour guide expresses monotone enthusiasm as he guides the group.
  • Ironic Echo: In the beginning, Bernard reminds Craig that he's going to have to grow up and that he can't live in the Creek forever. The ending has Bernard rethinking the idea of "living in the Creek" after his disastrous tour.
  • Jerkass: Mr. Knight. Who happens to be a very grouchy teacher.
  • Madness Mantra: Bernard picks the answer 'C' and repeats it as he fills out the entire test.
  • Mistaken Identity: When Craig enters Mr. Knight's class looking for Kenneth, Mr. Knight, who is not even looking, mistakes him for one of his students and orders him to sit down and take the test. Craig just leaves, but when Bernard enters looking for Craig, Mr. Knight still thinks it's the same student and commands him again. Bernard sits and is given the test. Even after he's taken the test and Mr. Knight berates him for his horrible score, Bernard tries to explain that he's not a student, but Mr. Knight won't listen.
  • No Sympathy: Mr. Knight shows no sympathy to Bernard who's clearly panicking from his test nor does he give him an opportunity to explain himself, let alone tell him he's not Wazowski. In fact, he even brings him his failed test and berates him for it.
  • Noodle Incident: Subverted. Bernard is against leaving Craig home alone after he turned the kitchen into a slip-and-slide area with dish soap. The event never happened but Bernard hopes to keep it that way by bringing his little brother with him.
  • Shout-Out: The episode has several references to Monsters University. The campus tour guide is modeled after Mike Wazowski, a jock that Craig bumps into looks like Sully, and the teacher Bernard encounters is named after the scaring professor. Mr. Knight even refers to Bernard as "Wazowski".
  • String Theory: In his room, Craig has a map of the Other Side of the Creek with information on where he received the cube pieces along with the (former) royal dynasty.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: To cheer up his big brother, Craig gives him an ice cream sandwich he bought from the campus store. It, now melted, ends up falling on Bernard's pants after opening it.
    Bernard: Of course...
