It's a Williams Family Thanksgiving, which means it's time to reunite The Kid's Table! But when Bernard accidentally destroys dessert, Craig uses the power of the Kids Table to help save his brother from certain grounding.

Tropes:

  • Another Story for Another Time: The final bit of narration.
As for how I made my voice deep, well, that's another story for another half-hour special.
  • Cats Are Mean: Gus, the neighbor's cat, comes in the window and immediately pushes the pie off the counter. In Craig's retelling, Gus does it For the Evulz, even telling Bernard that he'll never leave the kid's table.
  • Dreaded Kids' Table: Bernard wants a place in the grown-ups table as he's long since outgrown the kids' table (emotionally and especially physically), and at first it looks like this year he has his chance, until his older cousin Jasmine drops in unexpectedly and takes the extra seat. By the end, Bernard gets his seat at the big table, but now appreciates the times spent at the kids table with Craig.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Bernard is allowed to return to the grown-ups table after Jasmine leaves to attend to some "totally mature" business. But before he goes, he assures Craig that he'll fondly remember the Kid's Table.
  • Extra-Long Episode: A half-hour instead of a quarter-hour like most episodes.
  • Framing Device: Craig telling the story of last night's Thanksgiving dinner to Kelsey and J.P.
  • Hope Spot: Craig and Bernard have successfully fixed the pie and are letting it cool by the window. They think the worst is over... and then the cat comes in and pushes the pie off the table.
  • Infallible Narrator: Craig's story includes details he wasn't present for, which is acknowledged when the narration points out Jessica and Bryson were doing things in a separate room from him. We're left to assume those parts were what Craig pieced together from secondhand accounts.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Bernard driving Craig to buy a replacement pie is treated as very exciting, but whenever the camera cuts to the outside, it shows the car being driven very carefully.
  • Narrative Backpedaling: After Gus the cat talks in Craig's story, Kelsey in the present is amazed, and Craig admits Gus wasn't literally talking. When Bernard suddenly reveals the van can fly, Kelsey calls Craig out for such a ridiculous detail, and he unconvincingly insists on it.
  • Narrator: Craig narrates his story in first person, though the audience hears it through the voice of the one and only Keith David.
  • Never My Fault: Bernard blames the kids for ruining the pie, even though it was him who put the blender on top of the pie. He admits that it was his fault, which to Craig sounds like the most amazing thing that he's ever done.
  • Noodle Implements: In an effort to stall everyone so Craig and Bernard have time to remake their mom's pie, Jessica performs magic tricks involving items we don't get to see her use.
  • Nostalgic Narrator: Parodied; Craig's story is narrated in a nostalgic tone, complete with an adult voice... even though Craig is telling the story the next day.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Kimmy brought cheap paper plates for a past Thanksgiving and has been ridiculed by the family for it years afterwards.
  • Parental Favoritism: Invoked. When Duane and Darnell argue over which of them gets to set the table, Earl teasingly says it was "my favorite son". Naturally, both think they are the favorite.
  • Shout-Out: The use of a (seemingly) adult Craig narrating the events of that Thanksgiving brings to mind A Christmas Story. More blatantly, they reference the "Oh fudge" scene from the same film.
    Bernard: Sweet potatoes.
Narrator Craig: Except he didn't actually say "sweet potatoes".
  • Thanksgiving Episode: Craig has Thanksgiving dinner with his family. We also see how the Creek celebrates the holiday by bringing leftovers the next day.
  • Unreliable Narrator: Towards the end, several details are obviously exaggerated, like the cat speaking (Craig claims he said it with his eyes) and Bernard having a turbo drive in the car that made it fly.
  • What Are Records?: Bernard pulls out an MP3 player, which Bryson only identifies as "a relic".
