"Who wrote this, Zero Mostel's grandmother?"
A Plot: The Corner Gas parking lot becomes a drive-in for a night, managed by Hank and Wanda. Davis and Karen are on high alert for potential criminal behavior.
B Plot: Oscar and Emma relive their youthful friskiness.
C Plot: Lacey touches a nerve of Brent's - his weight.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Early on, when Wanda compares the heat in Corner Gas to a pizza oven, Brent says that she shouldn't say "pizza" if she wants him to pay attention to her.
- Call-Back: In the very first episode of the live action series, Oscar complains about Brent starting to rent movies at Corner Gas, exaggerating that Brent's turning the gas station into a drive-in movie theater. In this episode, the gas station actually becomes a drive-in movie theater (albeit only for one night).
- The Cameo: Andrea Martin voices herself in a "Heart-Smarten Full Meal in a Can" advertisement that Brent saw.
- Crazy-Prepared: Karen prepares an entire duffel bag of riot gear in preparation for the drive-in, including tasers and bulletproof armor.
- Description Cut: After describing the "Heart-Smarten" product to Lacey, Brent says that Andrea Martin's probably being paid a lot to advertise it. Cut to Andrea, outraged that she's being paid in Canadian dollars rather than American.
- Disaster Dominoes: Oscar and Emma making out during the drive-in movie freaks out Brent (who had just left an argument about weight with Lacey), who trips over a power cord and shuts off the movie, which causes the crowd to blame Hank (who set up the event) and Wanda (who was selling snacks) and get riled up enough for Davis and Karen to treat it like a riot...and their actions lead to the Corner Gas window once again getting broken.
- Entertainingly Wrong: Hank's first attempt to fix the window at Corner Gas seems to go wrong because he needs a 9x12 glass pane, and accidentally brought a 12x9 (failing to realize it's the same shape, but held differently). However, he had a feeling he'd accidentally mix up the numbers, and also brought a spare that's the "right" shape. Wanda outright says that he's so stupid that it's circled back to clever.
- Exact Words: When none of Corner Gas's multiple windows are able to open on a hot day, Brent suggests just using the fan. So Wanda uses it...to break open a window and let in some cool air from the outside.
- Fictional Counterpart: As this episode's title hints at, all of the movies Hank suggests for the drive-in, as well as the one that gets selected, are entries of "The Quick and Angry", a series that is clearly based on The Fast and the Furious.
- Malaproper: Oscar refers to getting service at Corner Gas's broken window as "drive-in" rather than "drive-through". It convinces Hank to set up an actual drive-in theatre night.
- Not So Above It All: Wanda has this attitude towards the action movie shown at the drive-in, first calling the series trite and stupid while preferring narratives focused on character development...and later asking Hank to recap every detail she misses while handling concessions.
- Once More, with Clarity: When Hank approaches everyone eating at The Ruby to propose his drive-in idea, Brent asks why he isn't fixing the window, and Hank flashes back to how he accidentally broke it (see Trigger Phrase). When they get to Corner Gas, Brent then asks where the other glass pane is, causing the entire original flashback to play again with the second pane breaking added to the end.
- Parental Sexuality Squick: Brent is aghast at the sight of his parents making out in their recently-cleaned car.
- Saying Too Much: While trying to suggest a movie to show at the drive-in theatre night, all of Hank's recommendations are because of their epic twists...which means nobody wants to see them now that Hank's spoiled the twist.
- Shout-Out: Karen watched Escape from New York to prepare for any potential rioting at the drive-in. The Foo Mart's "diet" section includes a couple of celebrity-endorsed goods other than Andrea Martin's. And Andrea Martin herself complains about her diet food commercial's script, asking if the grandmother of Zero Mostel (who played Max Bialystock in The Producers) wrote it.
- Side Bet: A group of townsfolk decide to bet on what Brent actually weighs when he decides to use Lenny's heavy-duty scale. Lenny apparently wins, as Lacey says he ended up hugging her.
- Strangely Arousing: Emma's more frisky than usual throughout the episode because...Oscar cleaned the car.
- Too Much Information: When Oscar hits on Emma from inside the cleaned car, Emma asks him to tell her more. When Oscar says he's not wearing underwear, Emma says to tell her less.
- Trigger Phrase: While acting out a "The Quick and Angry" movie that used "wind chimes" to trigger a spy, Hank accidentally re-breaks the window he just fixed. When he asks Wanda to bring out the replacement glass pane to try and make it fit, Wanda says "wind chimes" and he instinctually breaks that too. After learning this, it is followed by Brent saying "wind chimes" so Hank hits Wanda in the shoulder. It becomes a Brick Joke later when Wanda uses it to get Hank to attack someone who's bothering her at the drive-in snack bar.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Before the credits, Brent blames the drive-in night fiasco on Lacey, as he wouldn't have gone to his car and seen his parents make out if Lacey hadn't riled him up about his weight.
- Weight Woe: The C-Plot is Lacey being concerned about Brent's weight, and Brent getting snippy about hers in response. To prove he's fine, Brent uses a heavy-duty scale, but Lacey rigs it in revenge for the earlier snippiness, making him incredibly anxious about food and diets. And then it turns out he does weigh more than he thought...
- You Need a Breath Mint: Said by Emma to Oscar when he attempts to kiss her while ordering from Corner Gas's broken window.
