B Plot: Emma obtains a robot vacuum cleaner, but is underwhelmed by it, whereas Oscar quickly bonds with it. Emma asks Wanda to upgrade it, but they are terrorized by the new version.
C Plot: Karen shuts down the town practice of leaving junk on the Main Street for others to pick up. She and Davis then make it a charity yard sale, selling people their old things back.
Tropes:
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Wanda's version of the robot vacuum is able to scan for and attempt to destroy sources of dirt, including its owners.
- Bait-and-Switch: Hank's riding down his zip-line when Karen shows up with a beanbag chair on her car roof, which Lacey outright calls serendipitous. Hank zips over the chair and lands completely fine, but then the line breaks and ruins the chair, also breaking a window at the Ruby.
- Blatant Lies: When Emma and Oscar see Dusty in Wanda's house, Wanda admits they need to know the truth...and then claims they're both suffering from an alien-induced hallucination before Emma demands the actual truth.
- Brand X: The robot vacuum is never referred to by its brand, but its round design is meant to emulate a Roomba.
- Brick Joke: Wanda mentions wanting to be in a "robot fight" early on when talking to the Leroys, even picturing herself in a Versus Character Splash. In The Tag, she gets her chance, when her creation tries to destroy Dusty.
- Clingy MacGuffin: Wanda's version of the robot vacuum does not seem to be impeded by the stairs in the Leroy house. In The Tag, it also survives being thrown into a river.
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: For once, Lacey proves herself better at this than Brent when it comes to Hank. Brent assumes she doesn't know Hank enough and that's why she didn't suggest ziplining from the grain elevator, which Hank would love. Lacey proves she knows Hank too well, intentionally omitting the grain elevator idea so Hank wouldn't jump at the chance and possibly kill himself.
- Companion Cube:
- Oscar bonds with the original robot cleaner, calling it Dusty. It later turns out that Wanda also bonded with it, having made a new vacuum herself rather than upgrading and/or giving Dusty back.
- Karen also takes a fancy to a bean bag chair left on Main Street, though it does not survive the episode.
- Continuity Nod: Hank admits his middle name is Henry and not "Safety". It was established in the live action episode "The J-Word" that his full name is Richard Henry Yarbo and he goes by Hank because kids teased his first name.
- Kitsch Collection: Davis manages to find an entire set of tacky Western-themed lamps, though they end up being sold...to Zeke, who originally threw them away.
- "Metaphor" Is My Middle Name: When Hank successfully pulls off his zipline stunt, to Lacey's amazement, he claims he was in no danger and that Safety is his middle name. When the zipline then breaks seconds later, destroying Karen's beanbag chair and a window at The Ruby in the process, he admits his only middle name is Henry.
- Non-Indicative Name: Wanda mentions wanting to try out for a "Robot Fight" show, but was disappointed to learn it was about robots fighting each other, rather than getting to fight a robot with her own hands.
- The Tag: Right before the credits, it's revealed that Wanda's vacuum survived being thrown in a river and is going to destroy a lost Dusty, but Wanda arrives just in time to save it.
- Tempting Fate: Brent remarks that Hank actually thought things through for once when Hank survives going down the zipline he built, one second before the tether connecting the zipline to the grain elevator comes loose and causes the line to snap through Karen's beanbag chair and a window.
- Versus Character Splash: Two: Wanda VS a robot in her imagination, and Wanda VS her robot vacuum right before the cut to credits.
