- Finally Found the Body: Sonny always talked about going back to Mexico so nobody questioned it when he vanished until his body was found in a horse grave.
- Secretly Dying: Sonny was dying of kidney failure so he spends the episode settling his business with his loved ones.
- Together in Death: Angelo imagines Sonny riding Firewalker in the epilogue.
- Unknown Rival: Angelo had no idea that Jose resented his relationship with his father Sonny.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Jose envied his father Sonny's paternalistic relationship with Angelo. He ended up killing his father and tried to point Angelo as a suspect to the police.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Sonny's horse Firewalker was killed in a suspicious fire for insurance money because he could no longer race. This causes Sonny to take a dive during a championship race to screw over his boss.
