On Numbuh 3's birthday, she shocks the rest of Sector V with a birthday wish of leading a mission. They lead her to a seemingly simple operation, but not all is as it seems...

Date of Mission: October 24, 2003

Now loading tropes:

  • Bathos: The sharks are a very dysfunctional family and the parents are arguing about the fact that they have to get a kid's meal for their son. ...But the "silly" factor comes in because they're sharks in a minivan having a conversation about fast food. They even treat Sector V's attack on them as just another hinderance as they drive home.
Gill: Oh, "Happy Birthday", Bruce! Now we're being attacked!
    Bruce: Waaaa!!!
  • Big "NO!": Used by Numbuh 2 when Numbuh 5's shot barely misses the car of sharks at the last possible moment.
  • Birthday Episode: This episode revolves around Numbuh 3's birthday. Interestingly, it's also the birthday of the young shark who brings his family up to Burger Frenzy.
  • A Birthday, Not a Break: While Chester doesn't know it until later, he puts Numbuh 3 through a great ordeal on her own birthday, as she (almost) is fed to a family of sharks.
  • Civilized Animal: The shark family. They live on the sea and are man-eaters, but are also capable of driving a car on land (as long as it's filled with water) and ordering fast food on the drive thru.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When it's revealed that Numbuh 3 escaped being sold as fast food, a dumbstruck Chester eventually asks, "Do you understand what this means?...They'll want their money back!"
  • Continuity Nod: Numbuh 3 defeats Chester by squirting ketchup in his eyes, similar to how he was defeated in "Operation: C.A.M.P." by getting skunk spray in his eyes.
    Chester: Ohh, my eyes!
  • Crying at Your Birthday Party: Numbuh 3 bursts into tears at her birthday party after Numbuh 4 berates her birthday wish of leading a mission. She calms down when Numbuh 1 tells her he knows of a mission for her.
  • Damsel out of Distress: While the rest of Sector V is frantically trying to save Numbuh 3, she's revealed to have already escaped the burger box and then singlehandedly defeats Chester.
  • Door Dumb: Numbuh Three goes to open the double-sided door to the fast-food restaurant. After trying to push open the door on the left side and failing, Numbuh One pulls opens the right one without any trouble.
  • Edible Ammunition: Exploited by Numbuh 5, who, while waiting for Numbuh 3 to "complete her mission", gets herself a cone from her own weapon and requests an ice cream scoop from Numbuh 2, who is using a weapon that shoots ice cream.
  • Exact Words: Chester asks Numbuh 3 how he can serve her. It's swiftly revealed he was speaking literally.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Sector V is waiting for Numbuh 3 to return from the restaurant, trying to figure out what the sign means when it says "kid on a bun", when Numbuh 4 sees a minivan leaving the restaurant.
Numbuh 1: Who'd want to eat a kid?
Numbuh 2: Maybe it's goat meat.
Numbuh 4: Cool! Check out that minivan full of sharks!
    Numbuhs 1, 2, 4, and 5: Sharks?!
    • And later again as they chase the sharks.
Numbuh 1 Don't worry, Numbuh 4. Numbuh 3 is resourceful. She'll pull through.
Numbuh 4: Yeah, right. She couldn't fight her way out of a cardboard... box...
Numbuh 1: Numbuh 2, step on it!
  • Failed a Spot Check: Sector V are so enraged over Chester causing Numbuh 3's supposed demise that they charge right past her.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • When Chester first speaks to the sharks, an observant viewer will notice Numbuh 3 poking her head out of the box, revealing that she wasn't as dazed as he thought and revealing how she most likely managed to free herself.
    • Just before Numbuh 3 enters the restaurant, the "Try our kid's meal!" banner can be read in full.
  • Graceful Landing, Clumsy Landing: When the team first arrives at the restaurant, they all land on the ground without issue, except for Numbuh 3 who stumbles. She then tries to save face by growling.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After Sector V seemingly loses Numbuh 3 to the sharks, they're so enraged that they charge towards Chester's restaurant with actual weapons (including Numbuh 4 wielding a battle axe).
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Sector V charges towards the restaurant with weapons (actual ones) and a battering ram when they believe they lost Numbuh 3, only stopping when they see she is alive and well.
  • Shout-Out: The child shark is named "Bruce".
  • Snipe Hunt: The "mission" to get a kid's meal was supposed to be this. The restaurant being owned by Chester put a crimp into that.
  • Surprise Jump: At the beginning of the episode, Numbuh 3 enters her room and is surprised by her team. They look up to see that she leaped upward to some rafters in fright.
  • A Taste of Their Own Medicine: Numbuh 3 defeats Chester and ends up sending him into the same burger-creating machine he put her in.
  • To Serve Man: Chester's plan is to exploit this trope, giving kids to sharks for profit. He even lampshades this when he first greets Numbah 3: "How may I serve you?"
  • Underestimating Badassery: Sector V doesn't think highly of Numbuh 3 being allowed to lead a mission (and Numbuh 4 thinks she couldn't fight her way out of a cardboard box!) Needless to say, this episode proves that they are quite wrong.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Sector V is more concerned about rescuing Numbuh 3 from a family of sharks and less about the fact the sharks can drive and have intelligence. For his part, Numbuh 4 initially thought it was just a cool sight.
