With the exception of Nina, the student council goes to Lake Kawaguchi for a retreat. What they find there will alter the destiny of the universe.
- Adaptation Expansion:
- Since the Paladins are now a group of seven instead of five, the number of lions was increased as well. The new lions are the Purple Lion, representing Darkness, and this story's version of the Yellow Lion, embodying light. The original Yellow Lion is now the Orange Lion.
- Allura never gets to describe the traits of the Blue Lion in Legendary Defender because Lance interrupted her. Here, the Blue Lion described as the friendliest and most level-headed of the Lions (which, funnily enough, are traits that Lance has and emobdies).
- Door Stopper: This version of The Rise of Voltron is so long that it had to be split into six whole chapters, just to get each part down to a decent length.
- Only the Chosen May Ride: Just like in Legendary Defender, the Lions choose their Paladins as explained by Allura.
- Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Kallen’s reaction to Rivalz’ piloting of the Blue Lion is to scream about how he’s the worse pilot in the world.
Kallen: RIVALZ. YOU ARE. THE WORSE. PILOT. EVER!
- Shock and Awe: Somehow, Lelouch's Geass has been upgraded to allow him to control red and black lightning.
- Shout-Out: Kallen's Bayard is explicitly compared to the claw of Wolverine, indicating that despite the massive differences from our world, the X-Men series exists in the Code Geass universe.
- Suddenly Shouting: Kallen screams at Rivalz about how he’s the worst pilot ever, as he flies the Blue Lion.
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Shirley and Suzaku have these reactions to sickly Kallen being chosen as the Hot-Blooded Red Paladin. It should be noted that neither is aware that Kallen is member of the Black Knights.
