Tropes

  • Actor Allusion: Once again, Gil Bellows plays a corrupt investigater in a horror project.
  • Blackmail: Price does this to First Lady Collins to make her keep quiet about the murders by threatening to release photos of her husband cheating on her prior to the election.
  • Chekhov's Gun: After the Bait-and-Switch in the previous episode, the stolen letter opener is finally put to use.
  • Continuity Nod: Chucky tells Henry to tell his parents that he wants to eat Swedish meatballs.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Chucky kills Samantha by slashing her throat with the letter opener, and as she coughs and drips blood, her head detaches itself from her neck, leaving her head dangling backwards and Chucky asks her if he looks upside-down.
  • Cryptic Background Reference: After both of his kills in this episode, Chucky counts them, but is noticeably counting down, implying he needs a certain number of kills for whatever he's planning.
  • Decoy Protagonist: After all that build up in the last two seasons of becoming the show's Supporting Protagonist, Miss Fairchild gets killed off.
  • From the Mouths of Babes: When First Lady Collins suggests that Chucky eat pancakes for breakfast instead of Swedish meatballs, Henry retorts that "Chucky doesn't like fucking pancakes."
  • Interrupted Intimacy: Jake and Devon start to have sex until Lexy and Miss Fairchild walk in.
  • Kick the Dog: Chucky kills Miss Fairchild just so he can once again make Jake, Devon, and Lexy orphans.
  • Off with His Head!: Chucky slits Samantha's throat so hard that it detaches itself from her neck and dangles from her back.
  • Shirtless Scene: Jake while getting close with Devon in the hotel room.
  • Sinister Suffocation: Chucky kills Miss Fairchild by smothering her with an American flag.
  • Slashed Throat: Chucky slashes Samantha's throat multiple times, to the extent that her spinal column is detached, with her head only just barely connected to her body by her skin.
  • The Talk: Miss Fairchild tries to give this to Jake and Devon after catching them about to have sex. She clearly has a tough time doing it, which makes things awkward for all three of them.
  • Verbal Backspace: When Lexy shows Jake and Devon a picture of Grant, both Jake and Devon agree with Lexy about how cute he is, and then quickly assure each other that Grant's looks don't compare to the other.
