Go To

After a cop convicted of killing his police officer wife is killed in prison, the team discovers that he may have been framed, and Brass and Vartann may have been romantically linked to his wife.

Tropes:

  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Brass, Vartann, and others who knew Vance and Anne-Marie remembered how Vance resented Anne-Marie's promiscuous reputation and threatened to kill Anne-Marie if she left him. This was exploited by Anne-Marie when she framed Vance for her fake murder.
  • Double Standard: Discussed by Nick and Catherine concerning Anne-Marie's Really Gets Around nature.
Catherine: "Look, I knew Anne-Marie. She wasn't doing anything the guys in the department weren't doing."
Nick: "Yeah, 'cause they were all doing it with her."
Catherine: "Yeah, and probably getting attaboyed for it. Double standard."
  • Everyone Has Standards: Anne-Marie's accomplice, corrections officer Jarrod Malone, is disgusted that Anne-Marie was willing to murder her own sister for being a loose end.
  • Femme Fatale / The Vamp: Anne-Marie used her feminine wiles to charm and manipulate the men around her.
  • Frame-Up: Anne-Marie faked her death and framed her husband Vance for her murder. When Vance was gathering evidence for a new trial, Anne-Marie arranged for a hit on her ex-husband.
  • Has a Type: As discussed by Anne-Marie's sister, Anne-Marie usually dated cops.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: As discussed by Brass, Anne-Marie was this to many police officers who knew her.
Brass: "I remember Anne-Marie's first day on the job. She walked in the squad room and every guy's neck practically snapped."
  • If I Can't Have You…: Brass and Vartann remembered how Vance threatened to kill Anne-Marie if she ever left him. This was exploited by Anne-Marie when she faked her death and framed Vance.
  • Really Gets Around: Anne-Marie had an infamous reputation for her numerous romantic flings with Nevada police officers. Catherine notes that this was no different from what other male police officers were doing themselves. The episode centers on a list compiled by the victim of many Las Vegas and Brime County police officers whom Anne-Marie slept with.
  • Spotting the Thread: Greg noted that the blood found in Anne-Marie's car hadn't clotted, even two hours after the car was found. This led to Greg rerunning the blood evidence and finding that the blood contained an anticoagulant, meaning that someone collected Anne-Marie's blood in order to be able to plant it wherever and whenever they wanted to. Not only did this proved that Vance was innocent of Anne-Marie's murder, but it also led to the discovery that Anne-Marie is actually alive.
  • The Sociopath: Anne-Marie fulfills many of the checklist: she uses her feminine charm to manipulate the men in her life; she engages in pathological stimulation through her numerous romantic flings; and she is ruthless and remorseless enough to arrange a hit on her jailed ex-husband whom she framed for her faked murder and to kill her own sister for being a loose end.

Brass: "You've been gone a long time, baby. Now you're going away for even longer."
Anne-Marie: "Let's see how many men are on the jury."
