Ponch and John are bedeviled by a dog that keeps wandering into the highway. Ponch, at a traffic jam, stops three surfers from ganging up on a motorist, but they switch targets and seek to cause trouble for Ponch in any way they can.
Tropes seen in this episode:
- Deer in the Headlights: This poor guy was riding on his motorcycle was in a trance when he passed Ponch and John. The two motor officers had help him while they were still moving, and carefully guided the rider to the side of the road. After snapping out of his trance, the fellow decided, that when he gets home, he's selling his motorbike. Even more surprising, he opted to WALK home on the spot.
- Evil-Detecting Dog: The dog that John brings home barks loudly enough to thwart any further attempt of the road-rage guys, but the axle was still loosened up.
- Make It Look Like an Accident: The surly surfers manage to loosen up the screws in the front axle the service bike before the dog starts barking.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Ponch and John stop a woman who was speeding down the road. She become belligerent toward them, saying that her husband is suffering a heart attack. The officers both perform CPR on him, the wife enraged enough to demand their badge numbers. The ambulance comes in, and helps the woman's husband on the spot. John tells her it was a good thing they DID stop her: the hospital was on the OTHER OFF-RAMP near Sherman Way, prompting her to silently realize this.
- Creative Closing Credits: Ponch, John, and Sgt. Getraer gives the dog back to the owner and his son. Getraer pets the dog, but his hand starts itching, no thanks to his allergies. When the boy sets his dog down, the dog goes over to Getraer's motorbike, the dog lifts his leg up, and hoses the tire down!
