After losing the perp driving a stolen sports car in a high-speed chase, Ponch and John gets wind of Sargent Getraer briefing, noting that there was pattern to such thefts: Every high-end sports car that was stolen were taken from parking garages and valet services, while others were jimmied open or had a custom key made on the spot. Not only that, it was always six cars. An overturned truck spilling glue further complicates things, and Ponch winds up being covered in it after getting his bike out of a patch of it, much to his embarrassment... and the amusement of everyone else witnessing it! They later realize the stolen sports cars are being smuggled out of sight with a well-disguised car carrier...

- Big Brother Instinct: Jon sticks up for Ponch when he makes a few rookie mistakes, but lets him know he'll only do this for so long. This is the relationship between Jon and Ponch for several of the early Season 1 episodes, until Ponch becomes more comfortable on and gets better at his job.
- Oh, Crap!: As the Creative Closing Credits roll, Sgt. Getraer tells Ponch about that little incident where he told an old lady to pull over for a speeding ticket and accidentally causes her to run off the road! And if that wasn't bad enough, Getraer reveals that she was the MOTHER of the Captain!
