Tropes

  • Body in a Breadbox: The Victim of the Week's skeleton is found inside a giant chocolate bar.
  • Can Not Tell A Lie: When Nigel, Sweets, Cam and Brennan lie about knowing that Angela's pregnant, he starts whimpering, covers his face and says "Please, I beg of you, don't look at me directly. Just say what you came to say."
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Parody: The episode is, to some extent, a Deconstruction of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Jimmy Walpert is an obvious stand-in for Willy Wonka, complete with him Suddenly Shouting at the end of the episode, and there's a rival chocolate company that seems to be equivalent to Slugworth. The victim even dies by drowning in chocolate, which is reminiscent of Augustus Gloop falling into Wonka's chocolate river.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: When Vincent Nigel-Murray comes up with an idea to preserve the bubbles of the victim's last breath, Cam in her enthusiasm says "If I didn't have self-control, I could kiss you!" The normally Motor Mouth Nigel-Murray is struck silent for several seconds until Hodgins brings him out of it.
  • Everybody Knew Already: Hodgins is throwing a party so he can announce he and Angela are having a baby to the rest of the cast, but they all found it out on their own in previous episodes. Angela still begs everyone to go pretend they didn't for his sake. He figures out immediately when they do a bad job faking surprising, but isn't upset about it.
  • Expy Coexistence: Jimmy Walpert is a parody of Willy Wonka, but Booth makes a reference to Oompa-Loompas at the beginning of the episode.
  • Product Placement: The episode features some almost comically blatant product placement for Windows Phone 7, which fills up the entire screen for several seconds as Brennan is using it.
