Tropes

  • Celebrity Resemblance: The male victim, Felix, shares a resemblance to George Clooney, leading to a Running Gag of everyone Booth shows Felix's sketch thinking it's of Clooney.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Brennan is obviously very jealous over Booth's relationship with Hannah and needles him over it for most of the episode.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Booth bonds with the park ranger they're working the case with over their shared history in Afghanistan.
    • Hodgins and Hannah hit it off by bonding over media conspiracy theories.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Brennan is shown to be upset over how "mathematically attractive" Hannah is. Hodgins also gets Distracted by the Sexy when watching her on TV.
  • Hypocritical Humor: When the Jeffersonians are all gossiping over the Brennan / Booth / Hannah Love Triangle at work, Clark is upset over how unprofessional the conversation is, but they all ignore him. As the conversation goes on and Brennan denies her and Booth being a couple, he snaps and goes on a speech on how Everyone Can See It. Cue the Jeffersonians reprimanding him for his lack of self-control and they all suddenly start focusing on work, leaving him baffled.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Booth's new girlfriend Hannah was a war reporter in Afghanistan, and by the stories she tells she was in danger pretty often. Booth is even concerned she will find her reporter job in D.C. boring by comparison.
  • Misdirected Outburst: Brennan becomes so peeved over Booth and Hannah's relationship that she takes out her frustrations by becoming a Mean Boss to Clark, starting to unfairly berate him on his work and forcing Cam to intervene on his behalf.
  • Modesty Bedsheet: Booth and Hannah and shown laying in bed post-sex with a sheet covering both of them. It's a Fanservice heavy variant as the sheet is low on his waist to show off his chest, while high her waist to show off her legs.
  • Not So Above It All: Squintern Edison proves that he's been drawn into the soap opera of it all and gives a very dramatic explanation for why everyone expected Booth and Brennan to get together, only to realize what he's doing and apologize.
  • Recovered Addict: The Victim of the Week were both former alcoholics that met via a Tropaholics Anonymous group.
  • Rescue Romance: Hannah says her first time meeting Booth was when he saved her life from an enemy sniper in Afghanistan. They hit it off soon after.
  • Running Gag: Everyone keeps confusing the male victim sketch with George Clooney.
  • Sexy Discretion Shot: When Booth is attempting to go get out of bed and go to work, Hannah pulls him by his tie for round two and the camera pans away as they roll in bed.
  • Together in Death: The Victim of the Week are two skeletal remains found (as the title suggests) in a cave. It turns out that they were pushed from a cliff, with the woman's injuries being far more severe. After getting to the cave, the man could have gone on further to find help and possibly save himself, but he chose to remain with his partner, and she died in his arms before he too succumbed to his injuries.
  • Vigilante Man: The Villain of the Week turns out to be Gary the park ranger, who had a niece who died due to a car accident with Felix, the male victim, who only got counseling as punishment. When he saw him at the park, Gary decided to take justice in his own hands and killed him and his girlfriend by pushing them off a cliff.
