The Heeler sisters try to bring Chilli a Mother's Day breakfast in bed, but they spill it. While Bluey takes this in stride, Bingo is sad because she thinks she "ruined [Chilli's] day". Chilli is not unhappy, however, and tells Bingo to have a good cry and then keep going. She then says, "The show must go on", inspiring Bluey to put on an actual show.

The girls start their show, with Bingo playing Chilli before she had kids. Bluey establishes that Chilli liked playing hockey and dancing, then the girls recreate how the Heeler parents met, which Chilli thinks was at a party in London. Bingo plays Chilli and pretends to be at the party with the Queen, then Bluey plays Bandit, who she portrays as a dopey, gassy dog.

Bluey then plays Bandit proposing Chilli and has the honeymoon happen at the dump, despite Bandit's protests that they went to Italy instead. Then, the girls run off to get a shirt and a blue balloon so that Bingo can play a pregnant Chilli. While preparing, Bingo notes that she "[hasn't] ruined the show yet", and the parents note that they mostly enjoyed it.

Bingo comes on pretending to be pregnant with Bluey, but then the balloon that was representing the unborn Bluey pops. This makes Bingo very sad since she again thinks she's ruined it, but Bluey (while trying to entertain the parents with a dancing toy) tries to reassure her that it wasn't her fault. Bluey then looks for a new prop to use for the fake fetus, since there are no blue balloons left, but Bingo doesn't want to finish the show. However, she decides to follow Chilli's earlier advice and get herself out of her funk.

The girls start again and use Bandit (against his will) to play the newborn Bluey. Bandit teases Bluey by pretending he needs to be changed, and the show ends.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal:
    • Bingo's Queen doll wears nothing but a crown.
    • Bandit wears a bonnet and diaper when playing a newborn Bluey.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Bluey-as-Bandit keeps calling Bingo-as-Chilli "babe".
  • Baby Talk: When playing a baby Bluey, Bandit says, "Daddy, me go boom boom in nappy".
  • Calling Your Bathroom Breaks: Bandit says, "I have to go to the toilet" at one point.
  • Chekhov's Classroom: At the beginning, Chilli teaches Bingo how to deal with a bad mood (have a good cry, dust yourself off, pick yourself up, and keep going). She later uses this advice to deal with sadness about the show failing.
  • Cross-Cast Role: In-Universe; Bluey plays Bandit, then later Bandit plays Bluey, in the show.
  • Dawson Casting: In-Universe — the Heeler sisters (kids) play Bandit and Chilli (adults), then later Bandit (an adult) plays a baby Bluey.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: When Bingo is portraying a pregnant Chilli, with a balloon under a shirt, the scene is derailed when the balloon unexpectedly pops. We then immediately cut to Bandit and Chilli... where their expressions drop, and Bandit promptly grabs Chilli's hand.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Bluey is inspired to make the eponymous show when Chilli says, "The show must go on" metaphorically.
  • Feeling the Baby Kick: When Bingo is pretending to be Chilli pregnant with Bluey, she pretends that the baby is kicking.
  • Furry Reminder: The girls wag their tails a few times.
  • Goo Goo Getup: The girls make Bandit play a newborn Bluey, and he dresses in a bonnet and diaper.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Bingo wears a shirt while playing the pregnant Chilli.
  • Incestuous Casting: In-Universe — the Heeler sisters play Bandit and Chilli.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Bluey accidentally makes Chilli feel old by referring to the time before she had kids as "the olden days".
  • It's Okay to Cry: Chilli encourages a good cry as part of processing sadness.
  • Meaningful Echo:
    • Chilli's mantra about having a good cry and moving on is supposed to be a way to tell Bingo that Mistakes Are Not the End of the World. Bingo using it after popping the balloon meant to be fetus Bluey becomes very meaningful, as it not only shows Bingo is taking her mother's advice to heart, but assuming Chilli lost a baby, implies that Bingo is unwittingly reenacting the inner strength Chilli mustered to move on.
    • Additionally, the fact it's Bluey (who resembles their father) who comforts and motivates a distraught Bingo (who looks like their mother) after she pops the balloon parallels how Bandit was there for Chilli after the incident.
  • Mistakes Are Not the End of the World: When Bingo feels guilty about dropping the breakfast, Chilli says that it will take more than a little mistake like that to ruin her day, and Bingo just needs to have a good cry, dust herself off, and keep going.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Bingo blames herself for spilling Chilli's Mother's Day breakfast, thinking she ruined her mother's day, then later she blames herself for "ruining" the eponymous show when the balloon pops.
  • Parents as People: Invoked when Bingo has to ask Chilli for her "not-Mum" name.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Bingo says, "Kick!" when pretending the unborn Bluey is kicking in her belly.
  • Smelly Feet Gag: When Bingo is being Chilli after Bandit proposed to her, she says, "Do you love my stinky feet?".
  • Speak in Unison:
    • At the beginning, the Heeler sisters say, "Happy Mother's Day!" in unison.
    • The Heeler parents chant, "Chilli! Chilli! Chilli!" when the girls start the show again.
  • Toilet Humour:
    • Bluey thinks that Bandit farted when he first met Chilli (in front of the Queen no less).
    • When the girls run off to get the pregnancy props, Bandit asks if it's a "toilet break".
    • Bandit says, "Daddy, me go boom-boom in nappy" when pretending to be a baby Bluey.
  • Wham Episode: Downplayed: Word of God is that the scene with the balloon popping was meant to represent that Chilli had a miscarriage in the past.
