Recap / Bluey The Doctor

Go To

The Heelers have turned their playroom into a pretend doctor's clinic; Bingo is the doctor while Bluey plays Edna, the receptionist.

Honey comes in wanting to see the doctor but says there is nothing wrong with her. Bluey explains that because they are playing doctors, there needs to be something wrong for her to see the doctor. Honey decides on an injured knee.

Bingo comes out and says she is ready for her next patient. Honey, excited, gets up from her chair but is interrupted by Lucky bursting in with a crocodile on his head. Bingo immediately takes him into her office.

While Bingo is treating Lucky, Bluey brings Honey a cup of tea and gently asks if she is sure nothing else is wrong with her like if she was attacked by a giraffe or something, because that would be a real pickle.

Before Honey can take the next spot Snickers comes in yelling for the doctor, having hugged a cactus too tightly. Bingo takes him next. Honey moans in disappointment.

Bluey apologizes to Honey for the wait. Honey asks if she is definitely the next patient, but before Bluey can reassure her Indy, Coco and Rusty come in with their own injuries. Rusty in particular is burping up baby hippos, causing chaos in the waiting room. The commotion has Bingo immediately take him in.

Bluey comforts Honey, who bemoans that she'll never get to see the doctor because her problem isn't as interesting as everyone else's. Bluey makes her feel better by saying Honey always makes her laugh.

Bluey urges her to do something else funny. So Honey shows them her trick of making her body wag, while her tail stays still instead of the other way around. Seeing this, Bingo cries that her tail and her body are mixed up. Proclaiming it as the biggest pickle she has ever seen Bingo takes Honey in straight away. Honey is ecstatic.

Bingo tells Bluey to hold all her appointments, and Bluey gets back to work. Meanwhile Bandit - bandaged and covered in snakes - asks if the doctor will be much longer. Bluey scolds for him to be patient.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Amusing Injuries:
    • Lucky runs in with a toy crocodile on his head.
    • Snickers comes in stuck to a cactus, and also has the same crocodile that attacked Lucky biting him on the rear.
    • Indy's arms inexplicably fell off while hanging out the washing.
    • Coco's hand got bitten by scorpions.
    • Rusty accidentally ate a hippopotamus, and is now burping up baby hippos.
    • Inverted with Honey, who struggles to come up with a funny enough injury that will put her at the front of the queue. She gets taken in after showing that she can make her body wag while her tail stays still, which Bingo diagnoses as her body and tail being mixed up.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Indy's injury. While out hanging laundry, without any apparent cause both of her arms just fell off. She's actually hiding her arms under her vest.
  • Bandaged Face: Lucky, after being treated by Bingo, emerges with gauze covering his whole face, even over his eyes. Snickers after his treatment comes out with band-aids covering his whole body.
  • Butt Biter: The crocodile that clung to Lucky's head later attacks Snickers by biting him on the bottom.
  • Call-Back: Bandit has been waiting off-screen the entire episode, lying in a similar fashion as his previous medical appointment with Bingo and Bluey.
  • Cartoon Throbbing: Coco's injury. She got bitten by seven scorpions, and now her hand has turned red and swollen (here represented by a red foam finger).
  • Episode Tagline: Doctor Bingo for this episode has "We'll fix that in a jiffy!"
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Every time Bluey assures Honey she is definitely the next patient someone new comes in with a bigger injury.
  • Losing a Shoe in the Struggle: We don't see Bingo treating her patients' injuries but are treated to shots of the curtain they are behind being violently ruffled and various objects flying out.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: Played for Laughs, Lucky runs in with a toy crocodile on his head and that same toy crocodile bites Snickers on the rear.
  • Playing Doctor: The premise of this episode. Bluey and Bingo are playing doctors with their friends and family as the patients.
  • Post-Treatment Lollipop: Bluey has these on her reception desk. Chilli, Lucky and Snickers each get one.
  • Sassy Secretary: Bluey as Edna actually makes a very helpful receptionist. Until Bandit asks if he is next she lambasts him and tells him to be patient.
  • Shout-Out: The baby hippos Rusty is burping up are chattering wind up toys that look similar to the ones from Hungry, Hungry Hippos.
