Indy thinks she's no good because her model horse looks like a cow, but Calypso encourages her not to give up, so she tries to fix it with a little help from Winton.

Tropes:

  • The Cameo: Lin-Manuel Miranda voices the horse Major Tom.
  • Character Development: Indy and Winton each have their respective arcs. Indy's is about not giving up, while Winton's is about finding his self-worth. When the two end up turning cow-horse into giraffe-horse for making the neck too long, Winton despairs that he's too flawed to be helpful to Indy. In turn, Indy (who previously was discouraged her sculpture didn't turn out to be a horse) cheers him up by facetiously playing her sculpture up as a giraffe. So once they adjust the sculpture's neck and succeed, Winton compliments that Indy is indeed good at sculpting, as Indy compliments that Winton is indeed a good kid.
  • Credits Gag: When Indy's 'story' seemingly ends on a sobering note that she never bothered making clay statues again, we are given the 'credits'. But to drive home this isn't the real ending, Winton comes into frame and starts jumbling the letters around. What few letters weren't ruined has fake names based on dog breeds.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses on Indy and Winton, even exploring the former's Character Development and the latter's best qualities.
  • Downer Ending: Played with. Indy's first story ends on the note that because she gave up beeswax-sculpting, she never sculpted another beeswax statue ever again. Indy doesn't like that ending, prompting her to tell a new story where circumstances convince her not to give up.
    • Happy Ending: As such, after she and Winton work at making her cow-horse into a proper sculpture of a horse, Indy ends the story on the happier note that she achieved her goal instead of giving up.
  • Her Code Name Was "Mary Sue": Played for laughs. In the story that he and Indy make up, Winton is super muscley, has the power to fly, cries rainbows, and can shoot lasers out of his paws.
  • Informed Species: An In-Universe case, as Indy feels discouraged when she makes a horse out of beeswax but everyone else thinks it's a cow. She spends most of the episode trying to figure out how to make it look more like a horse.
  • Ocular Gushers: In Indy's second telling of her story, at one point, Winton does this trope with rainbow tears.
  • Shout-Out: Major Tom is named after the main character of David Bowie's 1969 song "Space Oddity". Tom's voice actor, Lin-Manuel Miranda, is a known Bowie fan.
  • Terrible Artist: Poor Indy thinks she's one because her first attempt at making a beeswax horse looks like a cow, and almost decides never to sculpt beeswax figures again. With encouragement from Winton, she learns to make it look like a horse.
  • Toilet Humor: When the class is making beeswax sculptures, Winton pretends to poop out a piece of blue beeswax.
