At sleep-away camp, Jessi befriends her trans cabinmate, and Nick discovers his two best friends have a little too much in common.

- The Bus Came Back: Gavin appears for the first time since the season 2 finale. He used to be Natalie's hormone monster before her transition, and his overbearing masculinity frightened her. She later gets rid of him when she starts taking puberty blockers.

- Call-Back: Rick got the role of Monster Energy Drink spokesmonster that Maury was "auditioning" for in "I Survived Jessi's Bat Mitzvah".

- Full-Name Ultimatum: After Jessi refuses to talk to Natalie, Connie calls her "Jessica Cobain Glaser". Apparently, both Nick and Jessi have middle names based on '90s icons (Arsenio Hall and Kurt Cobain, respectively.)
- Funny Background Event: Connie attempts to get Nick's attention water skiing, and the boat appears to be driven by Rick.
- Groin Attack: Lola hits Kurt and Val's groins with a shovel when they torment Jay again.
- Happy Ending Override: After last season's heartwarming ending, Jay's brothers are back to treating him abusively just like they did before.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: After Roland accidentally lowers Jessi's eyes, she draws some thick black eyebrows in black marker, and Connie suggests that she have a cigar, and Jessi waggles her eyebrows. All that's missing is Jessi saying, "Say da secret woid an' da duck comes down."
- In the flashback, Natalie holds a brochure titled "New Kids on the Hormone Blockers".
- Noodle Incident: As Lola is trying to drown Jay, she says:"You'll be the second person that I've drowned!"
- Not Even Bothering with the Accent: For some odd reason, native Canadian Seth Rogen doesn't bother putting on a Canadian accent for Montrealer Seth Goldberg.
- Previously on…: The episode begins with a musical recap of the third season, with a "Skip Recap" button to boot.
- Running Gag: Connie trying to get her waterskis off. She finally gets them off when they get stuck in Maury's ass.
- Shout-Out: Lola asks Jay if his dad Breaking Bad anyone in the backyard.
- When Natalie mentions Lady Gaga, Connie says, "I like that movie where her boyfriend pissed his pants at the Grammys."
- Shovel Strike: Lola defends Jay from his brothers with a shovel to their groins.
