While the Shame Wizard is distracted by Coach Steve's eccentricities, the kids are left to self-reflect. Part 2 of 2.
Tropes:
- Brick Joke: Connie drops a bunch of golf balls in the hallway while talking to Jessi. Later, Coach Steve gets stuck on them, rolling around for the rest of the episode.
- Call-Back: Caleb's mood chart comes back when Gina expresses her anger at Nick.
- Early-Bird Cameo: The episode ends with a brief glimpse of Depression Kitty sinking her claws into Jessi.
- Foreshadowing: Nick and Missy kiss in this episode (a dry and cold kiss anyway), and Nick and Andrew have an almost serious fight driven by their hormone monsters, which actually foreshadows the last two episodes of season 3.
- Hidden Depths: The Shame Wizard. This episode reveals a lot about his past, where it's shown he is not as antagonistic or evil as he seemed, and that most of his worst traits stem from a poor childhood and his lack of friends and good relationships in the present.
- Internal Reveal: Andrew reveals that he's masturbated to Leah's bathing suit, and also to Nick's cat clock (in the same room as Nick while the latter was asleep).
- Make Up or Break Up: Averted. Nick tries to fix things with Gina, but she still doesn't want to get back with him knowing that he'll just keep apologising every time he humiliates her, and that he is not genuinely taking responsibility for his actions.
- Mistaken Nationality: Tyler can't tell that the Jansen twins are Dutch.Tyler: (after the bottle points to Missy) Not Missy! We wanted one of those Chinese girls.
Maury: You think those girls are Chinese?
Tyler: Oh God! I'm sorry. Are they Korean? - My God, What Have I Done?: Jessi spends the whole episode realising that she's not as good a person as she'd like to believe.
- My Sister Is Off-Limits: Nick has the attitude when Andrew reveals he jerked off to Leah’s bathing suit a few episodes back.
- Never My Fault: While Nick tries to apologize to Gina, and seems to do a good job at first, he screws everything up when he tries to shift the blame onto Jessi saying that she's who set everything into motion. This makes Gina go from contemplating whether she should accept Nick's apology, to refusing to accept it all together.
- Not Afraid of You Anymore: The kids have this attitude to the Shame Wizard at the end of the episode.
- Plot Parallel: To season 1's ending. They both have an emotionally charged 9 episodes, with a trip to an alternative dimension by main characters while trying to rescue a friend.
- The Reveal: The episode’s beginning reveals that Tyler is working for the Shame Wizard.
- Shout-Out: Tyler says that the Shame Wizard has a ‘Harry Potter accent’, alluding to the fact that his voice actor, David Thewlis, was in the Harry Potter films.
- Spin the Bottle: 'Smooch or Share' is a combo between this and "Truth or Dare". Where you either kiss the person the bottle points to, or answer a question the person asks you.
- Too Much Information: When Andrew apologizes to Nick for jerking off to Leah's bathing suit, he goes a little too much on why doing it standing up isn't comfortable.
- Wham Episode: The Shame Wizard stops bothering the kids when they unite against him.
- Wild Teen Party: They don't get any wilder than the end of the episode. The kids start making out, running around naked, vandalising the school and one even climbs onto the basketball hoop so he can take a dump through it. Missy starts masturbating on the floor in front of a cheering audience.
