Recap / Big Hero 6 The Series S 3 E 010 Big Hero Battle

Go To

Boy band 4 2 Sing decide to become crime fighters, and challenge Big Hero 6 to a "superhero-off".

Tropes in this episode:

  • Actually Quite Catchy:
    • After a day of 4 2 Sing taking credit for Big Hero 6's accomplishments, they hold an impromptu concert during which their Humongous Mecha is hijacked by Steamer. Big Hero 6 uses Mega-Max to fight back. Because 4 2 Sing's mecha has no weapons, Steamer is quite resoundedly beaten and exclaims "I'll have my revenge, boy band! Even if your songs are delightful earworms!".
    • In the finale 4 2 Sing gives another concert with Big Hero 6 as their "special guests". Go Go, who had been the most negative about them from the beginning, is tapping along. Fred gleefully points it out, resulting in Go Go threatening to smack him.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: 4 2 Sing have a silver and blue mech dragon they fly in for their entrance; plus, Mega-Max makes a comeback to fight said dragon when Steamer steals it.
  • Autobots, Rock Out!: Invoked by Fred. When Mega-Max appears on the scene, a powerful guitar riff is playing, making it look like a normal occurrence of the trope. The image then shifts to GoGo and Fred who are inside Mega-Max, playing the electric guitar.
GoGo: Why are we playing music?
Fred: To show people we're just a cool as 4 2 Sing.
  • Boy Band: 4 2 Sing, of the K-Pop variety.
  • Celebrity Superhero: 4 2 Sing are attempting to break into superheroing because the boy band scene is already heavily saturated.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Several supervillains just so happen to commit crimes over the span of one 24-hour period.
  • Curbstomp Battle:
    • Several recurring villains get defeated in short order by Big Hero 6, despite how they gave the heroes so much trouble in previous episodes.
    • Von Steamer has no idea how to pilot the mechanical dragon, leading to a one-sided battle in Mega-Max's favor.
  • Deadpan Snarker: GoGo, like always. See Sarcasm Mode below. And when Steamer hijacks 4 2 Sing's mech dragon.
GoGo: Oh, look; even the dragon's sick of them.
  • Dirty Coward: 4 2 Sing are all this, because they're too afraid and powerless to fight enemies on their own, instead Stealing the Credit for Big Hero 6's work.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: 4 2 keeps getting credit for defeating the villains despite Big Hero 6 doing all of the work.
  • Epic Fail: 4 2 Sing's genuine effort to stop bank robbers winds up becoming this when Dae tries to knock one out, but the robber merely steps aside, so he falls to the ground.
  • Fanboy: Wasabi is a big fan of the aforementioned band. He's excited when they appear, feels ecstatic when their glitter remains on his supersuit, and enthusiastically joins their dance at the end.
  • Glory Seeker: 4 2 Sing are this.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: Steamer quotes this word-by-word when first defeated; then Baymax quotes it in confirmation, leaving Fred confused after Steamer escapes.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: 4 2 Sing's motive for becoming superheroes? To stand out in the boy band field.
  • Karma Houdini: 4 2 Sing never faces any consequences for pretending to be heroes and even end the episode telling Big Hero 6 they made good sidekicks.
  • Kissed Keepsake: When some of 4 2 Sing's glitter falls on Wasabi's hero suit, he says he'll never wash it off but takes it back soon after.
  • Sarcasm Mode: This moment here:
Honey: Actually, you're mostly super cute.
    Kwan-Sun: I know.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Wasabi does this twice, both of joy related to the band.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: GoGo, when 4 2 Sing thank Big Hero 6 for being "good sidekicks".
  • Shout-Out: After Steamer's revenge, the boy band sing the phrase "You're Welcome".
    • The graphics for 4 2 Sing's "Dance Dance Dance Battle" "move" look to be straight out of DanceDanceRevolution.
  • Sibling Team: 4 2 Sing get their name from being two sets of identical twins.
  • Stealing the Credit: 4 2 Sing take the credit for taking down criminals, while Big Hero 6 are doing all the superhero work.
